Production Team Leader

Job description / Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an associate to join the Dubai Value stream team, to lead production line team on shift as Team Leader, reporting to the Value Stream Manager.

The Team Leader role is to manage a team in production line, area or module and to effectively and efficiently communicate, facilitate, co-ordinate, and prioritize all operational activities within their area.

The Team Leader is responsible for his team engagement and development; furthermore, he will be responsible for his area KPIs within his shift.

In addition, the team Leader will be responsible to coordinate the value stream shift activities within his shift time, that includes, site emergency, site custodian, Non Quality Cost, FMOS and Kanban Scheduling.

The Team Leader will manage the shift associates and report into the Value Stream Manager.

The Team Leader is a hands-on management role, responsible for the day-to-day coordination of his team of associates and contractors to ensure the delivery of shift, daily, weekly and yearly production goals of his line
- To manage and measure day to day work of his team, to deliver agreed operation KPIs in terms of costs, quality, customer service, safety and hygiene, and routine PM tasks.
- To make assignments and monitor progress, co-ordinate training, and develop associates in their area of responsibility.
- To conduct PDPs for his team and to ensure disciplinary matters are dealt with in accordance with company procedures and policies.
- To promote and drive LEAN and continuous improvement culture within his team, and to lead implementing continuous improvement activities that address safety, quality, and efficiency in his production line / area.
- To provide clear communication and to be a first point of contact to his team. The Team Leader will ensure that the right people are aware of any issues that may have an impact on performance and will ensure that via regular communication with the VSM.
- The scope of this position involves working closely with other support resources out of his area, particularly Quality Control, safety, food safety and maintenance to ensure consistent product quality, productivity and safety.
- To support FMOS by managing process confirmation tours, ensure effectiveness of JTM and morning meeting action closing in his line.
- Lead and own the morning daily meeting for value stream.
- To develop a problem solving and failure root cause analysis approach within his team.
- To ensure that all equipment and machinery is operational and in good working order.
- To work closely with the VSM and other Team Leaders to ensure that all technical resource is deployed efficiently to deliver required shift performance at both line and factory level.
- To coordinate the shift value stream activities:
- Performance and teams activities.
- NQC.
- Manpower and material flow.
- FMOS.
- Scheduling and Kanban control.
- To Lead and own the value stream morning daily meeting and to Lead and own the plant weekly meeting.
- To lead the site emergency team.
- To coordinate the Value stream and plant common areas, facilities and services.

Requirements

- A strong communicator with a demonstrated ability to relate to people at all levels from a variety of backgrounds and to confront difficult and challenging situations as required.
- Minimum 5 years experience in manufacturing with an understanding of principles of Lean Manufacturing and basic technical skills.
- Degree in Engineering is preferred
