Job description / Role
Key Responsibilities
- Checks materials delivered to the site for compliance with contract requirements.
- Orders laboratory testing of materials as required by the specification and relevant standards. Record and review results. Order removal of non compliant materials.
- Witnesses on site testing of materials, record results, and order the removal and replacement of non compliant materials, (e.g. slump tests on concrete, compaction tests on road/pavement base materials, moisture tests on aggregates, etc.)
- Witnesses and record results of strength tests on piling (if appropriate).
- Requests supplementary design information if the original information is missing or not clear.
- Inspects the works at each stage of construction. Prepare check lists. Advise contractor of non-conforming works. Ensure correction of works if required.
- Ensures that the work complies with the requirements of the specification and relevant codes and standards.
- Ensures that the contractors approved shop drawings, method statements, quality control procedures and safety plans are being implemented on site.
- Checks that requirements of other disciplines are coordinated and incorporated in the civil/structural works.
- Monitors the structure which is being constructed, any adjacent structures which may be affected by construction activities and temporary structures, for any problems related to accidental damage, safety and/or stability. Alert the Resident Engineer immediately if any problems become apparent.
Requirements
- B.Sc or B.Eng. Civil or Structural
- 7 to 8 years of experience in site & supervision of building projects
