The Role


The Role


POSITION OVERVIEW:

Performs a variety of highly visible, complex, and valuable consulting services in support of the Parsons projects and business development pursuits. Focuses on providing added value to Parsons Global Business Units' (GBU) pursuits and projects with IT solutions and offerings. Ability to plan, manage and consult across a wide range of IT projects including large and smaller project-based solutions. Ability to become a subject matter expert in selling and deploying Parsons proprietary systems. The desired candidate will be able to lead the design and development of IT solutions for Parsons projects and ensure all company/client software initiatives are being developed in adherence to Parsons' methodologies.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the overall design, development, and delivery of a wide range of technical solutions as part of the IT Project Delivery organization.

Collaborates with other IT teams using a variety of architectural models to expand the company's use of technology and deliver effective solutions meeting Parsons' core values.

Architects, designs, and develops software applications with particular emphasis on Microsoft technologies including SharePoint, ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET and SQL server.

Consults with clients and IT staff to recommend and guide the development of data integration amongst applications using web technologies web portals, smart client applications, and niche applications that may be leveraged across the company, projects or markets.

Develops IT solutions including gap analysis of choice architectural components for solutions demonstrating pros and cons based on experience with industry-leading software and hardware alternatives.

Cultivates and grows knowledge of systems development practice, processes and skills, including the creation of conceptual, logical, and technical development artifacts; checklists, standards and Parsons branding.

Understands concepts related to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Intellectual Property, and how this relates to development and delivery of systems.

Ability to effectively transition the IT team between project phases including proposal, project mobilization, and execution; Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with Parsons PM and/or client.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• 4-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related IT field
• System development and integration experience with demonstrated design/implementation capabilities.
• 8-10 years of developing or implementing industry-standard solutions with complex integration requirements
• Previous experience in the engineering and construction industry.
• PMP or applicable leadership experience in managing system design and deployment

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Must possess excellent IT Project Management and Client-Facing skills. Knowledge of PMI based project management methodologies.

10+ Yrs. Information Technology experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities

Solid programming and experience in several of the leading applications such as:
• ASP.NET
• C#
• Microsoft SQL
• Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
• Web Services
• ML/XSL/XSLT
• MS SharePoint 2010
• Visual Studio 10 (XAML)
• Solid Understanding of MS Dot Net (.Net) Framework

• 2-3 Years of Integration Programming

Flexibility of work environment, ability to work independently, and comfortable with rapid change.

Excellent written and oral communication skills in English with effective negotiation, and consensus building skills, including the ability to speak with authority on technical issues in various professional settings and to persuade listeners regarding best approach to resolving user's problem (may include communication via telephone, in person, presenting to large groups, community events). Ability to write complex documents (may include policies and procedures and presentations). Communicates with a wide variety of individuals (employees and all levels of management) throughout the organization and outside of the organization (i.e. clients, vendors)

Strong track record of translating business requirements from a client into software requirements

Strong structured analysis & design/object oriented methodology background.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES (continued)

Knowledge and experience with a wide variety of computer, communications, and applications technologies and tools in the engineering and construction industry.

A good understanding of engineering and construction leading software tools. Examples include ERP software, Oracle Primavera P6 and Contract Manager, Autodesk and Bentley design suites, Maximo and Archibus Facilities Management software, mobile inspection solutions and Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) tools.

Ability to lead by example and mentor junior and mid-level technical team members

International travel is required.
