Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Project Director will be responsible for managing a project team to ensure that the project will be delivered on time and within budget. He will need to build credibility, respectful partnerships and apply rigorous and disciplined approaches whilst executing the delivery of the project in our existing portfolio of work. He should be capable in driving strategy and innovation as well as providing the foundations for a motivating and challenging work environment.

The successful candidate should have a tertiary background in either construction and project management with a proven track record of 25 years of experience with a main contractor working on projects of at least $250m to $500m value with 'Build Only' and 'Design and Build' experience. Local market experience of the MENA region is preferable; of higher importance are excellent technical knowledge, outstanding organizational skills, proven leadership and senior management skills, and pride and enthusiasm in the work.

Previous experience with mix use developments such as major infrastructure, golf courses, mosques, marine works, hotels, commercial buildings, residential apartments and villas is preferable.

The project director will also be strong in the following areas; client liaison, construction management and providing guidance and assistance to project managers and contract administrators on all construction projects. You will have experience working in a creative environment and will have excellent communication and leadership skills.

This position will also be accountable for the performance of the projects team regarding to profitability, cost control, quality, efficiency, client satisfaction and also work place health, safety and all environmental issues.

The project director shall possess strong verbal and written communication skills coupled with the ability to motivate himself and his team. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing a large number of projects, design consultants, subcontractors and staff simultaneously.

Requirements

The Project Director responsibilities will include:
- Provide strong leadership to the project team.
- Interface proactively with other company departments, Design, Contracts, Estimating , and Cost Planning etc.
- Create a winning 'can do' culture within the team.
- Proactively respond to the client as required.
- Make strategic decisions in relation to all aspects of the project in conjunction with Senior Executive Management.
- Provide input to senior management in relation to potential funding models.
- Attend client facing meetings.
- Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Keep internal stakeholders regularly informed on project status.
- Conducting monthly reviews with Commercial Managers, Project Managers and other staff.
- Guiding project direction.
- Identifying risk to clients and projects.
- Control cost to set budgets.
- Weekly project status reporting to management.
- Making recommendations and improvements to the current methodology to deliver projects more effectively and efficiently.
- Maintaining and developing new methodologies.
- Mentoring and teaching the current company methodology.
- Reviewing project documentation.
