Project Finance Accountant

Job description / Role

The Project Finance Accountant is a key member of the Project Delivery team, responsible for all financial aspects and processes related to the project(s). Contracting experience and active participation are key in giving the Project Managers the look ahead view they require to achieve success by delivering to the Customer's satisfaction in time with the required quality and within the budget defined.

The individual is required to support and work closely with all the Project Delivery team involved in the project execution. In doing so the individual will provide accurate and timely information on project progress and outurn to support better decision making. The Project Accountant operationally reports to the Delivery & Engineering Director and functionally to the Divisional Finance Controller

Requirements

- Collect, control and challenge, for the contracts execution , all financial figures and indicators (Order Income, Revenues, Estimate/Costs at Completion, Margin, Working Capital ,Commitments, Cash Flows, Letter of Credit, etc.), set up and update the project Work Breakdown Structure.
- Establish a rolling forecast for cash, revenue and expenditure by project
- Recast budgets per Work Package based on final proposal (detailed budget)
- Control of project commitments and expenditures
- Ensure projects run on a cash positive basis and report any potential deviation to the Divisional Financial Controller
- Prepare monthly reporting highlighting areas of concern and propose corrective actions
- Establish a monthly risk analysis in conjunction with the Risk & Opportunities manager. Follow up of mitigation plans
- Liaise with accounts to check invoices and payments raised accurately and on time
- Draft and cost Change Orders
- Establish a rolling forecast for cash and expenditure
- Conduct biannual updates of the project cost forecast (Cost at Completion)
- Assist the Project Manager in achieving their revenue and margin objectives and also improving the accuracy of their project accounting
- Graduate in Finance or Business administration or Engineering & Finance Education
- Must have over 4 years experience in project control activities on international projects
- Ideally, have experience working in or with the Middle East
- Experience within the IT or security solutions sector

Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing to travel to hostile countries such as Iraq/Afghanistan
- Must be fluent (read and write) in English
