Project Finance Accountant

Job description / Role

Our client is a global leader in providing IT solutions is now looking for a Project Finance Accountant to provide financial support to their operations.

Purpose of Role:
- The Project Finance Accountant is a key member of the Project Delivery team, responsible for all financial aspects and processes related to the projects. Contracting experience and active participation are key in giving the Project Managers the look ahead view they require to achieve success by delivering to the Customers satisfaction in time with the required quality and within the budget defined.
- The individual is required to support and work closely with all the Project Delivery team disciplines involved in project execution. In doing so the individual will provide accurate and timely information on project progress and out-turn to support better decision making. The Project Accountant operationally works to the Delivery & Engineering Director and reports to the Divisional Financial Controller.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Collect, control and challenge, for the contracts execution, all financial figures and indicators (Order Income, Revenues, Estimate/Cost To Completion, Margin, Working Capital ,Commitments, Cash Flows, LCs, etc.), set up and update the project Work Breakdown Structure.
- Establish a rolling forecast for cash, revenue and expenditure by project.
- Recast budgets per Work Package based on final proposal (detailed budget).
- Control of project commitments and expenditures.
- Ensure projects run on a cash positive basis and report any potential deviation to the Divisional Financial Controller.
- Prepare monthly reporting highlighting areas of concern and propose corrective actions.
- Establish a monthly risk analysis in conjunction with the Risk & Opportunities manager. Follow up of mitigation plans.
- Liaise with Accounts to check invoices raised accurately and on time.
- Draft and cost Change Orders.
- Conduct monthly updates of the project cost forecast (Cost at Completion) for key projects.
- Assist the Project Managers in achieving their revenue and margin objectives and also improving the accuracy of their project accounting.

Requirements

- Graduate in Finance or Business administration or Engineering + Finance Education
- Must have over 4 years experience in project control activities on international projects in particular long term contracts
- Ideally, have experience working in the Middle East
- Experience within the IT or security solutions sector
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience of Quantity Surveying an advantage
