Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

This position entails managing a 3 year environmental compliance auditing and monitoring programme for industrial facilities in Qatar; development of a database for the industrial facilities; preparation of the relevant guidance, protocol, and operating procedures documents; and training of staff members in auditing and monitoring.

This is a senior role that also requires technical co-ordination, review and direction of a team of 20 consultants, in addition to maintaining adequate liaison with the client to ensure the projects performance targets are met.

Roles and responsibilities:
- Management of a team of 20 consultants and technicians to ensure the timely submission of quality deliverables, including environmental audit reports, monitoring reports, guidance notes and protocols for environmental auditing and monitoring.
- Maintaining close liaison with the client and key stakeholders to ensure the projects performance targets are met.
- Management of a training programme in environmental compliance auditing and monitoring.
- Management of sub-consultants as required, particularly relating to the environmental monitoring scope of the project.
- Ensuring that the quality of deliverables is to the consistent high standards necessary to obtain recognition as consultant of choice by ensuring that Technical Reviews are undertaken on all deliverables and are in accordance with local legislation and best practice.
- Applying industry best practice in all aspects of work and providing technical input into specialist reports.
- Managing project financial performance and meeting profit and cash targets.
- Contributing to the technical input of deliverables.
- Understanding Quality, HSE and Company Systems and ensuring that they are applied in all lines of work.
- Responsible for coordinating work packaging within and outside the region.

Requirements

- Relevant PhD degree from an accredited university, with an overall experience of not less than 15 years (6 of which after receiving the PhD degree); or a Master's degree with overall experience of not less than 20 years (8 of which after receiving the Masters degree); or a Bachelors degree with overall experience not less than 25 years.
- Membership of an appropriate professional institute or association and auditing certifications.
- Strong track record in managing environmental auditing, monitoring, assessment and environmental training projects.
- Strong track record in multidisciplinary team management.
- Experience in the preparation of environmental management plans.
- Experience in working in an international consultancy.
- Working knowledge of international environmental legislation, trends, case law, standards and guidance.
- Knowledge of international project financing mechanisms and implications.
- Experience in client management.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills together with interpersonal skills and ability to develop key relationships.
- Expertise in preparing literate, high quality reports.
- Competent at Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Project, etc.
