Project Manager - Hydropower Projects - Eastern Africa

An exciting opportunity has come up for an experience hydropower engineer to join a large sustainable energy company in Eastern Africa as a Project Manager. The position would have you working on several small and local hydropower projects, and would have you responsible for completing the development work and the construction process.

Reporting into the Project Development Manager, our client is looking for an experience hydropower engineer with demonstrable success in previous hydro power project management. Any previous experience in remote African projects is highly preferred! If you fit the profile, and are looking for a good middle management position with a reputable company, this is the opportunity for you!

Responsibilities
- Finishing the development stages of small local hydropower projects in Eastern Africa
- Taking charge of the construction process
- Training and developing local staff on-site on how to handle, manage and maintain the project, turbines, racks, valves and other machinery
- Dealing EPC contractors, IPP bidding projects, PPA negotiations and project development in general
- Management of contractors on site

Requirements

- Educated up to a degree level or equivalent in hydro power engineering or relevant field
- Proven success with previous hydropower projects
- At least 5 years of experience with hydropower
- Experience with project managing a hydropower plants construction
- Previous experience in Africa is highly preferred!
- Fluency in English is absolutely vital.
