Job description / Role
Our client is a newly formed joint venture between two large Algerian and Qatari firms, to break ground on a mega project in Algeria. This massive project is for a steel plant, and related facilities, which aims to provide for all of Algeria's steel needs in the future. Our client is looking for an experienced Project Manager who has built steel plants, hot rolling facilities, and similar projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend regular meetings with consultant, client, and sub-contractors.
- Manage sub-contractor project and ensure it is in accordance with project standards.
- Proper coordination between the suppliers and sub-contractors for timely supply of materials and execution works as per execution schedule.
- Ensure proper allocation of materials, manpower and equipment throughout the project execution period.
- Ensure safety implementation by developing proper safety plan.
- Proven track record with recognized international standard companies particularly in Middle East -Operations & projects.
- Reviews, evaluates, and makes recommendations on project field changes and change order requests for reasonableness; and assists in drafting and processing change orders, posts contract documents, and other contractual documents.
- Prepares and/or reviews correspondence, reports, material take-offs, cost estimates and other technical data required to manage design and construction projects; creates and maintains project schedules, progress tracking information, and project files.
- Supervises staff employees; assigns and reviews the work of subordinates; and evaluates employees job performance and provides training as required.
- Participates in the preparation of divisions annual budget.
- Interfaces with necessary departments to determine the scheduling of work and materials.
- Reviews plans and proposals and determines proper procedures in order to accomplish company/dept goals.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 15+ years experience.
- Previous GCC experience preferred.
- Previous experience in Algeria preferred.
- Ability to speak French is a plus, but not required.
- Background working for contractors.
- Willing to work in Algeria outside of Algiers.
