Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The principal function of this position is to provide leadership in engineering excellence and supervision of Site Engineers and operations staff across a number of contracts throughout UAE. This post will report directly to the Operations Manager and may work closely to the Middle East Director.

To provide engineering supervision to the design, installation & operation process:
- Undertake review of tender documents (eg pumping tests, site investigations, specifications) to assist in dewatering system design
- On contract award prepare Method and Task Statements, Risk Assessments, Programmes, Schedules and Safe Systems of Work
- Assist in the specification and procurement of the equipment required to undertake contracts
- Directly supervise site activities (well drilling, pipe laying, pump installation, electrical connection and dewatering system commissioning) ensuring works are carried out safely and according to specification
- Ensure works are carried out to the contract programme
- Be responsible for collecting, collating and reporting relevant data (such as: as built information, water levels, discharge flows)
- Be thorough and rigorous in checking information and take appropriate action to rectify faults and be pro active in data management

As part of the Management team;
- Assist in the planning and implementation of sales objectives by close involvement in day to day planning of resources (people, plant, equipment etc)
- Supervise, mentor and support Site Engineers, Drilling Supervisors and General Foreman already based in Qatar
- Maintain and enhance WJs reputation for undertaking contracts based on knowledge and scientific principles

Take responsibility for broader corporate aims;
- Ensure consistency of presentation of documents such as RAMS, reports, graphs, drawings
- Ensure consistency of presentation of site plant, equipment and personnel
- The above is not exhaustive and you will be expected to undertake any other duties which may reasonably fall within the level of responsibility and competence of the post as required
- To take ownership of own personal and professional development.
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times

It is critical the candidate is willing to be flexible in their roles, show a keenness to learn from the experienced people managing the firm and bring qualities to the company which will contribute to the planned growth over the coming years. There is a need to be proactive and learn quickly, particularly in areas such as working environment, cultural awareness, project implementation and logistics, drilling techniques, installations of pumps, header mains, discharge lines etc. Also, getting a grip on authorities and permissions required for discharge lines and locations is essential.

Although geared towards a role in the UAE operation, the successful candidate would be required to undertake some project specific duties in Qatar under the guidance of the existing management team.

Requirements

- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Understanding of Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering.
- Experience in the supervision of geotechnical activities and use of the observational method.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills and written communication skills.
- Resourcefulness, initiative and the ability to work unsupervised in often difficult site conditions.
- Flexibility to travel throughout GCC, for extended periods at short notice.
- Keenness to learn and improve skills
- A good knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace
- People Management skills
- Computer Literate
- Ability to work under pressure
- With GCC Driving License
- Financially and Contractually aware
