Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Our client is a large Semi-government client based in Dubai, with one of the largest shipyards in operation today, handling over 350 vessels per year. Over the past 30 years, our client has established itself as a leading, fast growing international player in the Offshore and Engineering, Ship Repair and Maintenance, Shipbuilding and Conversion, Rig building and refurbishment, FPSO/FSO conversion, offshore fabrication, Maritime Clusters and Yacht and Fleet operations with facilities in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Through organic growth and the winning of new large projects, they have asked us to source an experienced Project Planner with experience in rig repairs/refurbishments and upgradings to join their expanding team during this exciting time. The Project Planner will be in coordination with the entire project team, perform responsible, complex professional planning activities involving advance planning and special projects; and performs related work as assigned. This is a permanent position based in Dubai.

- Assist the Project Manager in his set out plan and follow said priorities
- Have knowledge of the Contract and key dates and will bring any issue to the Project Team accordingly
- Coordinates with the entire Project in order to make preliminary & completion programs as required.
- Performs advanced professional work related to variety of planning assignments
- Reviews and processes complex comprehensive plan amendments, rezonings, annexations, site plans
- Performs onboard site inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans
- Schedules and conducts meetings with Clients Project team planner
- Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas
- Writes and presents formal and technical reports, working papers and presentations
- Analyzing production specifications and shop capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements
- Planning and scheduling workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
- Planning sequence of assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production departments.
- Determines the status of assigned projects, expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Monitors, analyzes & reports performance to schedule of production & production support activities, utilizing information derived from material and production control systems.
- Ensures all parties are fully cognizant of production status & that work planning and execution objectives are integrated & communicated.
- Provide information to the Project Manager or Lead Project Manager leader to ensure that they are prepared for Executive Team meetings
- Perform other jobs related duties as assigned by the section head.

Requirements

- Excellent oral and written communication skills for preparing and presenting planning reports and Projects
- Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve less well defined planning problems
- Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously
- Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment as needed
- Ability to attend to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind
- Bachelors degree in planning or a related field and five years of professional planning experience. Rig experience in repairs/refurbishments is preferred.
- Supervisory experience may be required or preferred
- Advanced knowledge of the philosophies, principals, practices & techniques of planning
- Knowledge and experience in construction processes
- Knowledge of principles, methodology, practices of research and data collection
- Knowledge of effective writing techniques
- Knowledge of computer software programs, including Microsoft Office suite, Project and Primavera
- Proactive, self-motivated & punctual
- Studies scope of work carefully, looking for potential issues before we ever start the job
- Attention to detail
