Our client is a leading conglomerate of companies who currently seek to appoint a Property / Real Estate Lawyer in Dubai for their property development firm with projects across the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the proven performer we seek will be responsible for the following:

• Contract drafting and negotiation with third parties, typically involving engagement letters, contracts, NDAs, etc. but also occasionally in the context of more complex matters such as LOIs, RFP, JVAs and ancillary for potential real estate projects.
• Coordination of legal aspects of deals handled within the real estate team.
• Oversight of external counsel as necessary; and assistance in the leasing program.
• Drafting a wide range of agreements (e.g., Sale and Purchase Agreements).
• Structuring homeowner associations and drafting all required documents.
• Supervision/legal support for all buyer related issues including issuance of new sale and purchase agreements, transfers between buyers, handover of units and title registration.
• Negotiating with Master Developers.
• Providing legal opinions (formal or informal) on a wide range of property, development and some construction matters.
• Interfacing with other departments, senior management, buyers, business partners and external counsel.
• Acting as the dedicated legal contact on one or more projects and will be involved in negotiations alongside the General Counsel plus be capable of managing external counsel.
• Oversight of legal support staff.

Requirements

The attributes we seek for this pivotal role include:

• Degree qualification in Law LLB with Masters being highly regarded from a leading law school.
• Candidates must possess a minimum of 5-8 years post graduate experience in corporate and real estate / property law.
• Exposure to property structuring and drafting of homeowner association documents from a condominium / strata jurisdiction (Australia, Canada, US, South Africa or New Zealand) preferred. Exposure to conveyancing (property transactions), either commercial or residential, is an asset.
• Candidates must have corporate and real estate development experience in the UAE and will ideally have obtained their experience in either a leading real estate development company or through private practice.
• The strong mature communicator we seek must be a self-starter, have a strong attention to detail, possess excellent drafting skills, and be commercially astute within a multi-cultural environment.
• Candidates must be willing to travel on occasion and able to work flexible hours when required, which may include evenings and weekends to meet business demands.
• Candidates must be customer focussed and be able to function well under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent English is an absolute minimum.
