QA/QC Manager

Job description / Role

My client is a large and established, international Main Contractor who have been building architecturally interesting projects in the UAE for over 16 years.

They are looking for two QA/QC Managers to be based on one of their Dubai based projects.

Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing QA Plans, Method Statements and Inspection Test Plans;
- Ensure inspections as per ITPs and trade checklists;
- Reviewing testing requirements as per contractual obligations and accordingly implementing the testing regime, economically but effectively.
- Preparing subcontractor risk schedules as per cost/time/co-ordination factors;
- Undertaking Internal Audits of BM & Risk 1 subcontractors as per the audit schedule. Preparing Internal Audit reports and subcontractor QA audit reports.
- Liaising with External Auditors during ISO audits and maintaining ISO requirements;
- Undertaking random factory visits to ensure QMS compliance, to maintain balance between Client requirements and Contractual obligations.
- Raising of Internal NCRs & implementing best industry practices for continual improvement;
- Monitoring Non Conformance Reports and assisting construction team for closeout with Consultants.
- Raising of Internal NCRs & implementing best industry practices for continual improvement;
- Monitoring day to day functioning of QA Engineers/Inspectors, Inspection schedules;
- Liaising with consultants for recurring issues and proposing adequate measures, including training/workshops.
- Liaising with testing laboratories for conventional and specialised testing to circumvent tedious long test procedures, to achieve quick results, thus quick resolutions.
- Providing/assisting with necessary BS, ASTM and other necessary standards for specialised testing reports interpretations

Requirements

- Background in Engineering, Construction and Finishes
- Knowledge of Engineering principles and experience in actual documentation
- Ability to read drawings and understanding the specification requirement
- Thorough understanding of Quality Management System (ISO 9001 series)
- Knowledge of the Building Code (such as BS, EN, ASTM, etc)
- Knowledge of Design and Interior Finish
- Bachelors degree Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Building or similar
- Internal QMS Auditor Training ISO 9001:2008
