Quality Control Inspector

Job description / Role

Monitors the construction contractors quality-assurance/quality-control (QA/QC) programs and conducts detailed audits to assess the level of compliance with the QA systems, procedures, and related-quality activities. Monitors and audits the quality control (QC) activities, set forth in the QA program, to confirm that products or services provided are in accordance with client quality requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Checks and reviews the plans and specifications for the proper construction and quality implementation at job site, perform pre-inspection to ensure that all installed materials are within the standard in conformance to applicable drawings and specs.
- Performs civil and structural inspections and tests, such as soil compaction, moisture content, aggregation, graduation, concrete slump, air entrainment, concrete compression, lines and grades surveys, bolt torques, and concrete coring.
- Interprets design plans and specifications to verify the work installed and performed in accordance with the contract documents.
- Produces activity reports as necessary to ensure that all QC activities have been fulfilled.
- Inspects and monitors piling installation to ensure location and bearing.
- Participates in the development of quality control reports and procedures as requested by the Construction QA/QC Manager.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

- year degree in Engineering (or related field).
- 15 years of related work experience in the field of quality assurance and quality control, including 5 years experience in quality management of construction projects.
- Requires extensive knowledge of quality assurance/quality control management practices, processes and current technology.
- Requires proficiency in the use of computers and software packages related to field.
- Requires proven experience in directing and implementing quality management systems and standards specified by ISO 9000, ASME, ANSI, ASTM and similar organizations.
- Requires proven experience as an auditor using ISO 9000 standards.
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to, conduct presentations to management, and interface effectively with a diverse group of professionals.
