Quantity Surveyor – MEP

The Management, Building and Cost Management Division provides a wide range of services often combining its specialist resources with those of the group as part of large multidisciplinary teams.
We now require a Quantity Surveyor- MEP to join our existing team in Dubai to work on a variety of projects.

The Quantity Surveyor- MEP will provide measurement, estimating and the provision of cost analysis in line with the current re-measure and lump sum contracts whilst preparing BoQ's associated for Infrastructure and Real Estate Assets.

Duties will include:
- Undertake estimation and cost planning from concept through to tender production
- Using CAD Measure and CATO: Analyse and review all drawings as-built drawings associated with the various contracts (Mechanical, Electrical & Plant) in order to compile a series of auditable measures which can be rolled up into an asset register according to the specific requirements of each authority.
- Ability to analyse and sub-divide assets into the required work breakdown structures by reviewing the drawings and challenge/request where necessary to acquire any additional information to derive the measure in accordance with each authority's prescribed requirements.
- Work with in house Mott MacDonald consultants to demonstrate the measures in order that the existing contract BoQ's can be broken down / re-priced and presented accordingly

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with the following experience:-

- Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying discipline, similar level degree or vocational qualification in Civil/ Electrical engineering
- Experience of working on Civil and Building projects is essential
- Experienced in the use of CATO, CADMeasure to produce measurements and compilation of consolidated BoQ's
- Demonstrate excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of Standard Methods of Measurement, Principles Of Measurement International (POMI)
- Recent Middle East work experience
- Strong numeracy skills
- Ability to prioritise and able to work under pressure
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and clients
- Excellent communication skills as well as being able to produce clear and logical written communication in English with strong report writing skills is essential
- Good presentation skills
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Working towards a professional qualification such as MRICS would be advantageous

The position is due to start at the end of April 2014 so preference will be given to candidates that can start within this time frame.
