The RoleThe RoleWe are looking for a RICS qualified Quantity Surveyor with experience in Building Construction and internal fit-out. The person must be technically competent to assess tendering information and determining volumes of materials and resource requirements for tender presentation. Timeliness of information on price and availability of materials and resources is essential and the person must be able to provide accurate and recent information through close liaison with other departments and suppliers. The position will be key to the tendering process of the company and as part of the duties, the person will be also be required to support the development of tenders through written tender documentation and submission of tenders. The role will include commercial tracking and completion of commercial reports in the form of Monthly CVR’s using the P&L account, Invoicing, sub contractor procurement/ management and cash flow projections. The position is based in our Afghanistan location but will support bids across other countries as necessary. Job purpose: • To assist in the development of bids through assessment of requirements and development of tender documentation • To ensure that financial controls are adhered to, and commercial tracking is kept up to date. • To be responsible for preparation of a handover package to the operational delivery team with assumptions and supplier/ contractor quotations clearly communicated. • Ensure that products specified are suitable, cost effective and available. • Provide costing information that is accurate and timely enabling accurate pricing and planning. • To support the management process of the Bid Process system to ensure bids are submitted in a timely manner. Key responsibilities and accountabilities: • Ensure that CVR’s, Cash flow projections and all commercial tracking on each project is current, and reported in line with the accounts timetable • Maintain an understanding of materials specified, standards required, availability and lead times. • Undertake costs analysis for various new build projects • Advising the team on procurement strategy and agreeing sub contractor packages • Managing costs on various new build projects and structures • Assisting in establishing a clients requirements and undertaking feasibility studies • Perform risk, value management and cost control to ensure target margins are maintained and improved on. • Identify and advise Technical Director of anomalies in specifications and drawings. • Prepare and process bills of quantities for bids and projects. • Develop tender documents and supporting information • To liaise with designers as appropriate to develop tender documents • Maintain accurate, complete and up to date records for all bids and projects. • Liaise with purchasing to maintain knowledge of product developments, specifications and availability. • Provide call off breakdowns for projects to enable efficient purchasing and delivery. • Maintain a working knowledge of the issues of international construction projects and shipping. • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials. • Contribute to the specification of product quality and conformance to standards. • Provide input to the design process on the practical application of the designs. |

Computer skills: • Must be adept in use of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word, and ideally Access or similar database to basic level, Internet and email. |
