Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The position of Quantity Surveyor manages all costs relating to projects from the initial calculations to the final figure.

Main responsibilities:
- Undertake cost analysis for potential project work
- Assist in establishing a client requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
- Prepare early stage budgets and detailed cost plans
- Perform risk and value management and cost control
- Assist in the preparation of tender and contract documents and prepare the bills of quantities
- Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure budgets are not exceeded
- Provide advice on contractual claims
- Ensure that completed work is in compliance with set budgets
- Develop knowledge relevant to contract conditions and their applications
- Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use

Requirements

- BSc in Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in the field of study. (Good knowledge and experience in the Natural Stone industry is desirable)
- Excellent knowledge in reading maps and drawings
- Ability to plan purchasing activities (setting objectives, developing strategies, budgeting, and developing policies and procedures); initiative to organize various functions necessary to accomplish purchasing activities
- Advanced knowledge of related ISO standards and governmental compliance regulations, and related Company policies and procedures
- Advanced knowledge in the preparation of letters of credit (L/Cs) and knowledge of International Trade issues and International Trade Laws

Soft Skills and Personality traits:
- Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply sound judgment in carrying out instructions to others, interpreting documents, understanding and writing procedures, creating reports and correspondence, and communicating clearly with management and employees
- Ability to interact with staff in fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties

Language Fluency: English, Arabic is a plus
