The RoleThe Role1. Monitors activities in the swimming pool area to prevent accidents, maintain control of children in order to prevent undue disturbance of other pool patrons, provide First Aid as necessary and/or summon help. 2. Insure the safety of the pool including the area immediately surrounding the pool, and check locker room periodically to discourage vandalism. 3. Provide individual or group swimming instruction if WSI (Water Swimming Instructor) trained and assist with regular or special recreation aquatic activities when scheduled. 4. Test pH content of the pool water everyday, inspect facilities for cleanliness, dispose of litter in and around area, re-arrange lounge chairs in an orderly fashion and report any deficiencies. 5. Submit official report of any unusual events, incidents or accidents in the pool area immediately to the Recreation Manager/Recreation Specialist. 6. Assist in conducting all necessary planning, programming and execution of recreation activities as assigned and planned by the Recreation Manager / Recreation Specialist. 7. Carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, i.e. maintain record of users of the recreation area; ensure that the recreation facilities equipment are kept in a clean and orderly condition at all times; make report and/or work order for deficiency and submit accordingly. |
RequirementsRequirementsEducational Requirements: - Diploma in Physical Education. - Formal recreation and/or physical education training. Licensure/Certification Requirements: - WSI (Water Swimming Instructor) preferred. - Advanced Lifesaving Certificate and CPR; or Specially Trained Basic Rescue with CPR. Professional Experience: - Minimum of two (2) years lifeguard experience. - Minimum of one (1) year recreation experience. Specialized Knowledge: - Ability to teach basic swimming technique to all age levels. - Working knowledge of recreation activities. - Must be fluent in oral and written English. |
