The Role

The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is at the forefront of the UAE’s educational system with 18,000 UAE National students attending classes located in 16 colleges, based at 17 men’s and women’s campuses across the Emirates. To deliver this service the HCT employs 2000 faculty and non-faculty staff, from the four corners of the Globe with the principle aim of developing the skills and knowledge of the young people of the UAE. To enable the HCT to do this, it operates a Recruitment Team within its Central Human Resources function in Abu Dhabi, handling 3000+ applications every month and successfully recruiting over 400 people every year.

As a Recruitment Officer at the HCT in a team of 10, you will be responsible for the end to end recruitment process of a range of vacancies across a portfolio of the HCT’s faculty and non-faculty departments. You will be in constant communication with local and international candidates as well as frequent contact with all levels within the HCT system from college HR officers to Senior Faculty members and management staff. Candidate attraction will also be an important part of this role and you will be using all the tools a recruitment function has at its disposal – talent pool of previous applicants, website and newspaper advertisements, networking, referrals, careers fairs etc to attract the right calibre of candidate. From the first initial screening stage, you will ensure that all recruitment procedures and processes are completed up to the point of offer and acceptance.

Requirements

To be able to successfully fill this demanding role, you will need a minimum of three years experience in an HR/Recruitment environment, with at least one year being in a front-line recruitment environment. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, be highly computer literate and ideally have used e-recruitment software packages and databases. Confidence will be essential coupled with an ability to establish positive relationships with people. Communication is a key skill and you have to be a first class communicator, both written and verbal, as you will be communicating with all levels, both internally and externally. You will be working within a large recruitment team so strong team ethic is necessary for success. However you also have to be able to work on your own initiative as must be able to prioritize your own workload and be the driving force behind the recruitment portfolio you are responsible for. Most importantly, you must have strong organisational skills as well as a self-starter and problem solver.

This is a fascinating role demanding a wide range of skills in a unique environment, unlike previous recruitment functions you may have worked in before. You will have to juggle many balls, deal with many different people, queries, situations and issues.
