The Role


The Role


Our client was established in the United Arab Emirates in 1975. They provide a complete range of foundation engineering, geotechnical, environmental, surveying and mapping services throughout the Gulf area, India and Pakistan.

The Role:

The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for managing all technical activities of the business in the region, including the Team, Equipment, and associated Logistics, to meet the demands of site investigation projects, onshore and nearshore within desired time frames and budgets, at all times ensuring resource optimisation, ensuring all technical related work in the field and the office is executed to the required standards.

Responsibilities:

- Manage the regional Operations team, in conjunction with relevant Branch Managers

- Instill a culture of safety across Operations and ensure reporting in accordance with the Company Safety Management System

- Manage relationships with suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure efficiency in the procurement of services and materials (in a timely manner, at the most economically viable rate, and agreed Service Levels are provided)

- Plan and manage maintenance of all major pieces of equipment - capital assets

- Provide support to the Commercial department by providing data and advisory support about project schedule and cost estimates at project quotation stage

- On award of project, work closely with Commercial and Engineering teams to establish Project Plan and Schedules and resource allocation, including manpower, rig and major equipment deployment, etc.

- Oversee the logistical management of all aspects of the Operations to ensure that all resources are available throughout the project lifecycle

- Support the Workshop Manager in fulfilling his responsibilities surrounding resource management of rigs, platforms, small vessels, and equipment and maintenance of same in good condition and in conformance with Quality and HSE standards

- Oversee the fabrication and customisation of rigs and other large equipment, either in-house or by sub-contractors, within budgets and timelines, as well as the functioning of scheduled and breakdown maintenance

- Ensure the highest level of maintenance of all Operations related facilities, workshop areas, stores, and storage of machines and equipment

- Ensure that all work undertaken by Operations personnel as well as those outsourced to contractors and service providers, conform to the company's Quality and HSE standards

Mandatory

- Tertiary Qualifications in Geo-technical, Mechanical or Marine Engineering

- Project Management Qualification

- Minimum of 5 years experience in managing an Operations department, - including a yard, mechanical engineering workshop, vessels, managing a team of more than 10.

- Minimum of 10 years hands on experience, in maintenance of hydraulics, diesel and petrol engines, small boats and offshore vessels.

- Leadership and Management Skills through demonstrated experience

- Highly organised with ability to multi-task and maintain professionalism under pressure

- Solutions provider for a range of logistical, commercial, technical and people issues

- Communication skills - multi culturally aware and able to communicate across nationalities and different level of employees

- Negotiate effectively for technical and commercial contracts with business partners, including ship chartering firms

- Knowledge and practical acumen about small ships, machines and engines, in order to oversee their fit-out and maintenance as well as fabrication of self-elevating platforms, rigs

- Adaptability and flexibility

- Asset Management and Financial acumen

- Good overall understanding of computer and system usage to oversee maintenance of records and generation of usable reports from the data

- UAE Drivers License

Preferably

- Knowledge of ship maintenance

- Experience with working in an environment that adhered to a ISO 9003 Quality Management System
- Oil & Gas or Energy Industry e.g. Wind farm background

- Post graduate qualification in management

- Onshore and/or Near shore experience

- Regional experience
