Regional Sales Director - South Africa

Our client is a leading Technical Solutions orientated firm with an enviable global presence and a reputation for the highest quality levels.

They are currently seeking a Regional Sales Director for their Southern Africa operations in this exciting and growing business.

This position will manage the regional operations and sales team within currency products and will have the following coverage:

SALES of currency automation products and services to financial institutions in Southern Africa in coordination with the Head of Sales Africa/Middle East and in compliance with the regional sales strategy

* Establish, maintain and control a strong and firm relationship to existing customers and distributors within the assigned sales territory
* Ensure alignment of sales activities with global organization and compliance to the firms overall processes and guidelines
* Lead, motivate and manage an efficient regional sales team consisting of 2-3 Sales Managers
* Attend to key accounts during the complete business cycle and follow up project milestones in close cooperation with sales administration
* Monitor competitive activities, identify customer future needs in terms of product portfolio and currency automation solutions; build up a strong link to the Product Marketing / Management
* Provide reliable forecasting and all sales-related figures as per company rules, as well as monthly reporting on sales activities

Key Responsibilities:

* Achieve assigned individual sales targets in terms of order-income, revenue and profit, as well as company objectives for the allocated sales area through own efforts (key accounts) and through sales team
* Liaise and negotiate with high ranking public sector staff
* Close deals and sign sales and maintenance contracts with direct customers
* Choose, train and monitor our distributors in various countries of the sales region according to company strategy
* Assure that distributors achieve sales targets
* Monitor and report competitor activities
* Travel extensively within sales area to build up and maintain customer relationship

Requirements


Job Requirements:

* At least 7 years of direct sales and distributor management experience for technical products in the Southern African region, out of which 3 years in a managerial position leading small sales teams
* Working in industry dealing with special purpose complex machinery involving specialised solutions and service activities
* Technical educational background
* Ability to understand technical requirements and channelizing them in a convincing manner
* Experience in dealing / negotiating with customers on high level (CEO / CFO/CTO or related levels in governmental institutions)
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Ability to listen, comprehend customer's need and derive adequate technical and commercial solutions
* Proficient in interview techniques / methods
* Advanced business related degree
* Fluency in written and spoken English, Afrikaans desirable
* Language skills in Portuguese or Spanish are advantageous
* Candidate must be willing to travel extensively within the sales region
