The RoleThe RoleAllen & York are currently look to appoint an experienced profile to accept the role of Director of Research & innovation at a leading international scientific research organisation focussed upon water resource management and biosaline agricultural production. Lead and manage the performance of a multidisciplinary and multicultural research group, encouraging professional development and teamwork Direct and lead all research programs, including germplasm, plant production systems, water management, and development of sustainable agriculture using saline water Direct and lead the development of training programs for GCC countries and others, as well as of contributions to extension programs locally and overseas Responsible for budgeting and expenditure management at program level Provide strategic direction and intellectual / management leadership, ensuring the Research Programs' success and delivery Develop a clear vision for the Center's Research Programs ensuring appropriate synergy with strategic partners Contribute to the overall leadership as a member of the Management Group Working closely with the Management Committee to set priorities for funding and broader communications and resource mobilization Lead a management committee for Scientists' Appraisals and Promotion |
RequirementsRequirementsApplicants are expected to meet each of the following criteria: PhD degree from a recognized university with a specialty in a scientific or technical area related to agriculture. Extensive experience in conducting scientific research and in leading and managing a highly skilled multidisciplinary team At least 10 years of managerial experience in supervising Research Scientists, developing workplans and resource allocations to ensure that research projects are technically sound and contribute to key deliverables in a timely and cost-effective manner, preferably in international organizations Experience in formulating and providing strategic advice to Senior Executives and Donors on scientific issues and programs Extensive experience in managing financial and human resource Excellent communication skills in English and preferred fluency in Arabic Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with people at all levels, with different nationalities, cultural and disciplinary backgrounds. |
