Job description / Role
Resident Engineer - Sewage Treatment Plant - Ajman, UAE
As Resident Engineer you will report to and support the Project Manager in managing the supervision team tasked with monitoring and supervising the contractors daily activities, monitoring and reporting on progress, quality and safety commensurate with requirements of the Contract. You will representing the interests of the Client and undertake the duties and obligations defined in the Contract and as delegated to you
The main project role comprises a capacity upgrade for the Ajman Sewage Treatment Plant to treat an additional 40,000 cubic meter of raw sewage per day.
The form of contract is EPC and the conditions of contract are governed by FIDIC Silver book and particular conditions of the contract.
Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Report to Project Manager, support him for successful delivery of the project
- Manage a team of multidisciplinary engineers and IOWs at site
- Administer the EPC Contract
- Review and certify contractor's payment applications
- Manage Design review process
- Review method statements
- Ensure Contractor's compliance with the requirements of the Contract
- Monitor and report progress, weekly to the PM and monthly to the Client
- Chair and minute monthly progress meetings
- Review contractor's claims, if any
Requirements
- Relevant bachelors degree in civil/mechanical engineering from a recognized university
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience
- Thorough knowledge of FIDIC Contracts on large projects
- Experience in working on sewage treatment plant projects
- Experience in leading a team of multi-disciplinary inspectors
- Knowledge of sewage treatment process is preferred.
- Good communication and letter writing skills
- Conflict resolution abilities.
