Description and Desired Qualifications
CH2M HILL Resident Engineer - Abu Dhabi, UAE

Job Purpose
The Resident Engineer Civil is responsible for one of ADDC project and will be our key person handling client interaction and will supervise Assistant Resident Engineers, Engineer and Inspectors.

Job Responsibilities
Perform the duties of the Resident Engineer on site.
Management and direction of a team of Engineers and Inspectors.
Identifies the resource requirements for the effective supervision of the construction works, and manages the supervision team.
Acts as prime point of contact for the construction supervision aspects of the project, including approves and monitors contractor's quality assurance and control, progress reporting, safety, financial recommendations, approved material submission and design modifications.
Builds a trusted relationship with the management team and with the client's counterpart staff.
Establishes an appropriate working relationship with the contractors.
Places an emphasis on safe construction practices (Target Zero) and on maintaining a high quality of construction. Leads by example in driving safe practices on site.
Uses effective project management and controls systems to regularly report on progress to the management team.
Monitors progress of construction against the programme, and takes steps to ensure the programme is achieved.
Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used for supervision works and monitors it for improvement. Cooperates with audits required in accordance with the contract requirements and CH2M Hill internal systems.
Ensures that all appropriate and relevant field records are maintained
Supports PM in negotiation of cost variations, extensions of time
Advise PM of potential claims and progress slippage
Defines the scope of work of any sub-consultants and ensures that their employment is effectively administered.
Planning and coordination of activities for the effective management, control and reporting of the construction supervision of the projects.
Contributes to the safety and build-ability reviews of the proposed designs.
Evaluates, selects, and adapts construction management and control techniques, procedures, and criteria to suit job tasks, and devises and implements solutions to problems encountered.
Contract close out.

Requirements

Recent previous experience (within last 5 years) as a Resident Engineer for potable water network projects (both Ductile iron and HDPE pipe materials), and are ideally located in the Middle East region.
Minimum 15 year's post graduate experience in the site supervision and construction management of high quality infrastructure projects.
Bachelors or Masters Education in Civil from an internationally recognized and accredited university.
Fully understand the aspects of site supervision and construction management of high quality finishing for infrastructure projects.
Be enthusiastic about improving the performance of site operations in UAE.
Be able to communicate effectively with site teams and motivate them to meet the project objectives.
Good leadership skills, and be able to work in a multi-cultural and multi-discipline team.
Excellent communication and report writing skills, and good presentation skills in English.
Written and spoken Arabic skills are beneficial.
ADDC approval required.
The candidate must have a UAE driving license
