Revit Technician

Job description / Role

We are currently looking for a Revit Technician to join our team in Dubai. The individual will be required to provide CAD drafting and technician services to the structural engineering team on a wide range of projects using REVIT and the latest CAD software and 3D modelling packages to accurately illustrate engineering design solutions.

The role will also involve some interface and co-ordination with wider project teams, both internally and externally, including architects, engineers, contractors and clients. In this capacity you will represent Buro Happold.

The correct individual must hold a Degree or HNC, HND or equivalent qualification with good numeracy and literacy skills, and 3 + years relevant experience.

Responsibilities:

The individual will be required to provide CAD drafting and technician services to the structural engineering team on a wide range of projects using the latest CAD software and 3D modelling packages to accurately illustrate engineering design solutions.
The role will also involve some interface and co-ordination with wider project teams, both internally and externally, including architects, engineers, contractors and clients. In this capacity you will represent Buro Happold.

Drawing/detail production from Engineers sketches and from scratch using architectural drawings and or concepts.
Take responsibility for drawing issues and daily housekeeping in terms of both digital and hard copy project file storage.
Responsible for ensuring delivery of drawing work to agreed project programmes, whilst meeting commercial targets.
Able to develop concept ideas into drawing details.
Assist in developing systems and procedures to ensure that the CAD system is used effectively.
Making sure that drawing production follows company standards.
Reviewing fabrication drawings to check compliance with design and ensuring good detailing practice is being undertaken.
Ability to communicate technical subjects clearly.
Mobility to travel.
Ability and willingness to work remotely with colleagues in the Abu Dhabi and Riyadh offices, and on occasion, if required, to travel to those locations for briefing or co-ordination meetings.

Requirements

The individual must be proficient in the utilisation of REVIT. This is an essential criteria of the position.
Relevant industry experience as a Structural Technician working on a range of projects.

Ability to prepare general arrangement, section, 3D and detailed drawings.

Good communication skills, experience in dealing with other employees working as a member in project teams and delivering to external clients.

Confident, proactive character, ability to take the lead in challenging situations with the confidence to question engineers regarding coordination of details.

Good computer and IT skills; use of Microsoft Office software essential.

Experience of working on a one to one basis and in team working situations.

Willingness to learn new skills and software plus attendance of upgrade training according to industry requirements.

Able to produce quality diagrams and illustrations for publication of design competitions, aid to conferences and award entries.

Be a competent user of AutoCAD 2D essential up to release 2011.

Desirable Experience:

3D skills and experience using Revit 2012

Qualifications:

Degree or HNC, HND or equivalent qualification with good numeracy and literacy skills, and typically more than 3 years relevant experience.
