Job Summary

The Rewards Specialist provides professional advice and coordination in the development, implementation, and administration of compensation and benefits programs for employees across the University. The incumbent researches and evaluates organizational needs and market trends, and develops responsive compensation programs, methods, systems, and approaches. Researches strategic compensation issues, develops proposals and recommendations, and actively participates in compensation and benefits planning.

Major Responsibilities

• Evaluates the effectiveness of the University's rewards practices through internal and external research of benchmarks and internal critical indicators

• Conduct regular reviews of the University's salary structures and pay systems to assess internal equity and competitiveness within the marketplace; develops strategies and recommendations as necessary

• Establishes and maintains proper benchmarking and job matching database

• Participate in the planning, coordination, facilitation, administration, and reporting of the annual salary increase program

• Develops, and coordinates implementation of large-scale job structure and market parity studies

• Implements new and/or updated benefit plans; prepares announcement material, booklets and other media for communicating to employees

• Conducts employee meetings and employee benefit seminars, and revises and reissues all communications material regarding benefits from time to time

• Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation system, guidelines and procedures; recommends plan revisions and introduces new plans that are cost effective and consistent with compensation trends

• Provides integrated advice on compensation and benefits management

Requirements

Technical Skills

• Ability to analyze and interpret compensation data and issues within the broader human resources context, and to provide integrated solutions

• Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports

• Knowledge of compensation management principles and practices

• Knowledge of job analysis and job evaluation principles, methods, and procedures

• Knowledge and understanding of compensation survey principles, methods, procedures, and techniques

• Ability to design, and implement customized compensation surveys

Non-Technical Skills or Attributes

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field

Required Experience

• Minimum 3-5 years of professional related experience
