The RoleThe RoleThe country of Qatar is currently experiencing an economic boom in economy and industry and has placed an emphasis on a major drive toward development of infrastructure services and construction of projects on a national scale. Our client, the leading government agency for infrastructure development and project management, is growing their specialist teams and now look to appoint a Roads Design Advisor. Reporting to the Manager of Roads Design, you will be a technical advisor for the design of roads projects for the country of Qatar. This is a role where you can impart your knowledge in this emerging economy. The responsibilities for this role include: Assists in the strategic planning and the subsequent fine tuning of the strategic plan of the Department. Monitors the performance of each design project in accordance with the allocated budget figure. Operates the policies and procedures and performance management processes for his/her team. Establish an overall plan to provide training opportunities for Departmental personnel and assist in the training through both formal training courses and on-the-job training. Keeps abreast of technical developments, relevant regulations and industry best practice. Ensures that appropriate work schedules of projects are assigned to the Design Management staff and to partner companies. Establish priorities, reviews and adjusts schedules to meet requirements of the project. Manages Design Management Department staff to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of all partner company design activity. Establishes relevant performance targets for the Department ensuring that they are realistic and support the objectives of the firm. Develops long-term plans and appropriate strategies to ensure these objectives are achieved. Ensures high standards of quality, reliability and safety in project designs, by implementing and maintaining design development, control and monitoring procedures for partner company design activity. Monitors and controls all contractual commitments to ensure that work is being performed by the partner company in accordance with the specifications, drawings and terms of the contract and that change orders and claims are processed in a timely manner. Develop reporting procedures on the performance of the Design Management Department and work on continuously improving product designs, adherence to deadlines and optimization of costs by partner companies highlighting any variances and recommending strategies to address them. |
RequirementsRequirementsKey attributes for this role include: Degree in Engineering or related discipline Additional certification in project management is beneficial Minimum 15 years experience with at least 6 years at senior management level to at least General Manager or Associate Director level. Experience in projects involving government Departments and outsourced consultants is beneficial Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models to support monitoring and establishing design review procedures Experience of managing high performing multi-disciplinary teams Experience in managing, coordinating, and administering medium-size, complex, multi function design projects A competitive salary package will be offered to attract |
