The RoleThe RoleThe Roads Maintenance Supervisor will help in the delivery of the newly awarded Maintenance contract which has been established to address maintenance matters associated with the Island infrastructure provision. Responsibilities: • Direct the activities of a number of teams working in specific, specialist or geographical areas, providing clear guidance to staff. • Organize, plan and carry out site inspections in accordance with specified frequencies. • Process inspection results to produce works notifications. • Responsible for entire process through to works completion, quality inspection and monitoring. • Ensure that works are carried out to client satisfaction. • Supervise sub-contractor works in accordance with Contract Conditions. • Authorize sub-contractor activities. Record site instructions, compliance failures and all associated actions. • Be aware of and comply with Health and Safety Regulations and Requirements and attend safety courses as necessary to obtain accreditation / certification. • Promote and maintain procedures and systems of working to comply with all relevant Health & Safety legislation, industry, customer and quality assurance standards and best professional and employment practice. • Collect/check and certify work sheets including any measurement changes and relate these to income to be recovered. • Attend regular site and management meetings to discuss progress, assess resources and draw up schedules of work. • Complete, or ensure the completion of, all necessary paperwork (including a site diary where appropriate) to accurately record the resources used and progress of work in accordance with construction procedures. • Other duties appropriate to the nature, level and grade of the post. |
RequirementsRequirements• Educated to GCSE level demonstrating numeracy and literacy if applicable. • BTEC or ONC in Civil Engineering or equivalent or Certificate in Management Studies or similar. • Knowledge of MMHW, Operational Billing, Conditions of Contract or similar. • Commercially aware with a good understanding of highways maintenance. • Must have minimum 10 years experience in highway construction and maintenance including considerable years of experience in supervising individuals/teams. • Must be able to communicate effectively and with confidence with clients, contracts and co-workers. • Must have the required initiative and poise to deal with requests from client and the various Contractors and their Subcontractors, and accurately relay the requests to the appropriate individuals. • Computer literacy: MS word, Excel, PowerPoint. • Must hold a valid UAE driving license. |
