Job description / Role
One of the largest financial services organisations here in the UAE are actively looking to add to their Database Management Team with an experienced, innovative Database Administrator.
Working as part of a larger Infrastructure team, the main responsibility for the Database Administrator will be to ensure database performance is maximized, through monitoring, maintenance and upgrading when appropriate.
The successful SQL DBA will be expected to ensure the overall implementation of the database strategy as decided by management, as well as contributing to the continuous improvement of the database environment.
Requirements
The database environment is enterprise scale and consists of SQL Server, Oracle and Sybase databases. They are currently using a mixture of SQL Server 2005, 2008 and 2012 and need to add to the team with expertise within the SQL domain. Any knowledge or working experience with Oracle or Sybase technologies would be advantageous.
Candidates should be experts within all aspects of SQL Database administration, with a particular focus on performance tuning as the team are constantly looking at ways to improve the availability and efficiency of the databases.
Candidates should be degree educated within a relevant discipline, and should have extensive experience working within a similar role. Any relevant industry certifications will be beneficial although not required.
The successful candidate will need experience working within enterprise environments, and due to the nature and complexities of the work being performed, should also have experience working within regulated and governed environments.
The working environment is fast-paced and candidates will be required to face-off to a multi-cultural workforce. As such, excellent communication skills in written and verbal English are required.
