Our client, one of the fastest growing public safety and security solutions organisations globally, is looking to recruit a qualified and experienced SQL Server Support Specialist (VLDB) to their UAE team. Our employer seeks a proven performer to assist on their main projects in the region, which include the implementation of advanced integrated security solutions for critical assets, safe city and border protection.

Reporting to the Data Center Manager, your responsibilities in the role will include:

• The maintenance and management of very large mission critical SQL Server Databases
• Implementation, patching, and release of database changes
• Troubleshooting and problem solving the SQL Server environment
• Detect and troubleshoot SQL server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention
• Enforce project data policies, such as backup/recovery, security and database maintenance routines and schedules
• Advise of maintenance technique modifications that may improve service levels or provide cost reduction
• Identify and tune poor-performing application code and/or database configuration

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Computer Science or related field
• Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role, on SQL Server DBA on large scale enterprise applications
• Thorough experience with SQL Server Database 2008-R2 administration in a production environment
• Previous experience with a 7 x 24 production environment
• Previous experience in backup and recovery
• Experience administering / developing SSRS and SSIS
• Experience developing PowerShell
• Experienced in SQL programming (T-SQL) and SQL tuning
• High level of knowledge and understanding in Windows 2008 R2 Clusters
• Understanding of storage SAN-EMC
• High level of ability in interpreting instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
• Drivers licence is essential
