The RoleThe RoleAs a provider of multi-disciplined technical services to the built environment, Atkins Middle East is committed to design excellence in the delivery of first class solutions which combine, innovation, imagination and best practice. We are currently looking for an experienced Safety Officer to work on a variety of construction projects in Qatar. As a first assignment the Safety Officer will be engaged on the Dukhan Highways project (this phase of the project is currently expected to start in April 2012). Working in a multidiscipline team of designers and engineers providing a comprehensive service to our clients, this is a great opportunity to gain experience within an internationally renowned consultant, affording the opportunity to work on large and small scale multidiscipline projects, in Qatar. Responsibilities Reports to the Senior Resident Engineer, your duties will include the following: Liaise with the inspectors and ensure that uniform high standards are maintained across all the works. Ensure that works are carried out in a safe manner. Ensure that the site is maintained in a clean and tidy state. Ensure that the safety of the public is not jeopardized. Ensure safety of the equipment and facilities inspection. Review the contractors safety plan and monitor compliance with the plan. Review and oversee procedures for investigating construction accidents. Other duties as requested from time to time. |
RequirementsRequirementsTechnical Competencies Essential Suitable technical qualification Minimum 5 -7 years post qualification experience as Safety Officer on Major Highways projects. Excellent working Knowledge of industry practices/safety/ quality management systems Certified The successful Applicant will ideally be a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Behavioural Competencies Demonstrate drive, enthusiasm and commitment to projects Excellent planning and organisation skills Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a proactive manner Excellent communication skills written and spoken English essential |
