Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Facilitate and implement Safety services ensuring compliance and continuous improvement to achieve the EHS strategic vision.
• Lead a team of EHS Coordinators to deliver Sohar Aluminium vision of safety
• Action Safety tasks and procedures:
-- Facilitate and promote a shared vision of safety and develop strategic directions for the company.Promote and foster collaboration between the operating areas in the management of EHS.
-- Provide innovative strategies in the area of preventative EHS management.
-- Ensure company’s operations and administrative procedures are in compliance with laws, regulations, standards and specific targets (measuring and reporting).
-- Develop and coach employees, technical staff and management on relevant EHS issues.
-- Coordinate the network of EHS coordinators supporting them to attain their targets.
-- Participate in the formulation of EHS policies, systems and practices through collaboration with the EHS Specialist Environment, Plant Protection Superintendent and Occupational Health Physician.
-- Develop and articulate EHS KPI’s which have been established to achieve the agreed objectives.
-- Lead plant EHS audits, train and develop others to preform.
• Monitor EHS KPI’s
-- Participate in People Based Safety activities to provide advice to reach the interdependency state.
-- Monitor the effectiveness of EHS practices and systems to make recommendations to management.
• Process improvement
-- Identify opportunities to improve EHS processes and procedures.
-- Prepare proposals and implement the changes.
-- Leverage the company’s technologies to increase efficiency.
-- Assist in preparing process flows.
• Action the SA (EHS) procedures to maintain high standards:
-- Action the SA EHS safety routines for own work area.
-- Action regular inspections to ensure safety. Raise notifications.
-- Maintain SA housekeeping standards (5S) in own work area.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) related discipline with 8 years relevant experience.

OR

• Diploma in EHS related discipline with 10 years relevant experience.

Sohar Aluminium was formed in September 2004 to undertake a landmark Greenfield aluminium smelter project in the Sultanate of Oman and is jointly owned by Oman Oil Company, Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC - TAQA and Rio Tinto.
