The Role


The Role


This position is responsible for the recommendation, implementation and completion of sales and marketing programs to obtain acceptable growth in incoming orders and ensure continued growth and profitability in UAE.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Recommend, develop and pursue long term sales growth objectives and plans within the territory
2. Set and obtain intake budgets.
3. Manage and support distribution partner activity in territory
4. Extensive focus on end user sites and staff to maximize preference for Cooper Lighting and spares/refurbishment/MRO opportunity
5. Recommend and initiate changes or deletions in current products and pricing necessary to maintain and increase sales and margins in accordance with Cooper Crouse Hinds goals and policy.
6. Determine competitive standing of current products in relation to price, features and performance including analysis of competitor’s actions, product developments, and product policies and activities.
7. Evaluate product success in the marketplace through internal reports and direct contacts with field sales, customers and distributors. Recommend adjustments to marketing and sales efforts when and where necessary.
8. Maintain current and required knowledge of the marketplace to be thoroughly appraised of all new or modified product opportunities as well as developments that may impact our products or ability to sell them.
9. Plan and determine product pricing and distribution policy consistent with sound price and discount practices to obtain optimum volume and market position.
10. Resolve product inconsistencies arising from, but not limited to, manufacturing and engineering inquiries, change in vendor supplies, and customer complaints.
11. Prepare pricing and proposals for projects as requested.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position is responsible for setting and obtaining both short and long term sales budgets within the territory. The Sales Engineer is primarily concerned with the setting and achievement of sales targets through managing local end users and distribution partners in territory. The role will also involve recommendation and development of products in order to increase market share.

In the area of planning, the incumbent develops and recommends long-term growth objectives. The objectives are met through appropriate market and product research, establishment of order and margin objectives, and preparation of sales, pricing, promotion representation and distribution programs that serve to effectively sell new and existing products. In developing such plans, the incumbent utilizes broad product and customer knowledge as well as a thorough familiarity with market demands and conditions such as design features needed by customers, channels to market and the appropriate time and way to enter the market. Specific emphasis should be placed on developing and maintaining standards and specifications applicable to the Cooper Lighting product range.

Requirements

• Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in a related subject; Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering preferred.
• A proven track record (2-5 years) in the lighting market place in an engineering, sales or marketing role, preferably gained within a large organization with recognizable brands.
• Demonstrable lighting design knowledge; able to establish customer priorities and co-ordinate specifications
• Experience of dealing with specification-grade products
• Experience of relevant industry standards and codes; familiarity with current technology
• Strong leadership qualities
• A high degree of motivation; the role requires a self-starter who is able to work on their own initiative with minimal supervision
• Preference for experience of GCC or UAE market especially where that experience includes work with and an understanding of the key UAE client base. However, candidates with experience of such customers in other territories will be considered.
• A capacity for creative and analytical thinking is essential.
