Job Description:

Responsibilities:

1. School Leadership

1.1. Creates a school program and climate that places students at the center of the learning process.
1.2. Ensures that the daily operation of the school focuses on student achievement.
1.3. Involves all stakeholders in the decision-making process.
1.4. Provides opportunities for all students to meet their individual needs and growth potential.
1.5. Demands high professional standards of staff and provides opportunities and resources for them to achieve these standards.
1.6. Demonstrates personal behavior that models a positive learning process.
1.7. Provides up-to-date learning materials and technology.

2. School Administration

2.1. Assumes ultimate responsibility for the management and operation of the school in accordance with law, administrative code, and policies and regulations of the school.
2.2. Develops annual goals and a strategic plan for the school which is to be approved by the Board of Directors.
2.3. Monitors the progress of the annual goals and a strategic plan and provides regular updates to the Board of Directors.
2.4. Brings to the attention of the Chairman of the Board of Directors such matters and data about the needs and operation of the school as are appropriate to keep the Board fully informed to meet its responsibilities.
2.5. Serves as chief communicator between the Board and the faculty and staff.
2.6. Attends Board meetings as specified by the Board, maintains a professional working relationship with the Board, and ensures the alignment of school goals with the objectives of the Board of Directors.
2.7. Coordinates with the Board when issuing faculty contracts and other school related contracts.
2.8. Exercises authority over the behavior and conduct of pupils, professional and non-professional employees, visitors, and any other persons using the school.
2.9. Participates in the formulation of changing of policies and administrative regulations related to the operation of the school and achieves this while working cooperatively with all school staff.
2.10. Ensures compliance with all ministry of education requirements and keep up to date records of these requirements.

3. Curriculum Management

3.1. Serves as the instructional leader of the school. Involves teachers and parents in the development ?and implementation of annual school plans to achieve pupil performance objectives, curriculum standards, and core course proficiencies.
3.2. Submits an annual status report on the school plan.
3.3. Participates in the development, evaluation, and revision of curriculum and assumes responsibility for the implementation of approved programs. Provides for coordination and curriculum articulation among and between the grades.
3.4. Oversees the formulation, planning, and implementation of a staff development program for school personnel and directs the program within the school.
3.5. Provides an articulated, consistent education for all students while encouraging staff to develop strategies, techniques and activities that reflect instructional diversity, alternatives and flexibility.
3.6. Oversees the evaluation of instructional materials, including textbooks, computer programs, library/media acquisitions, and other instructional materials.
3.7. Provides leadership in developing and implementing plans for instructional research, pilot studies for curriculum and instruction, and new courses of study.

4. Student Services

4.1. Maintains individual student records and reports of pupil progress.
4.2. Maintains high standards of student safety and conducts and enforces discipline as necessary in accordance with the school’s policy and the students’ rights to due process.
4.3. Excludes students whose presence is detrimental to the health and cleanliness of other students within law and school’s policy.
4.4. Implements registration, screening, placement, evaluation, promotion, and retention policies, and plans and implements graduation ceremonies.
4.5. Administers the organization, implementation and supervision of field trips and extracurricular activities.

5. Faculty and Staff Management

5.1. Hires and retains high quality staff.
5.2. Holds staff responsible for high standards of student learning.
5.3. Holds staff responsible for high standards of personal development linked to the planning process.
5.4. Provides the necessary time and resources for professional development of staff.
5.5. Implements sound personnel practices through the use of paper screening, interviews, reference checks, the observation of skill and ability, and the recommendation for hire of all school employees.
5.6. Ensures the implementation of proper evaluation and assessment of all existing employees in accordance of Human Resource best practices and standards.
5.7. Advises the Board of Directors on employee relations, contract actions, and grievance disposition.
5.8. Provides building orientation for new staff members and assigns mentors as needed.
5.9. Promotes effective communication and cooperation among staff through regular staff meetings ?and department and grade level meetings.
5.10. Ensures the proper placement and supervision of student teachers, practicum students, and visitors.

6. Financial Management

6.1. Directs the development of the school’s budget including staffing needs, instructional materials and book needs, and provision for the activities of the school.
6.2. Prepares and submits the school’s budget requests and monitors the expenditure of funds.
6.3. Prepares short-range and long-range financial plans for the school.
6.4. Reviews and updates receipts for purchased materials, supervises distribution of all supplies, library books, textbooks, and equipment, and maintains inventories of the school.
6.5. Reviews all activity account expenditures for Board approval.
6.6. Ensures the proper collection, safekeeping, and accounting of school activity funds.
6.7. Receives fees and fines as required and submits, in a timely fashion, money and records to the back office
6.8. Performs regular budgetary reviews and ensures that all budgetary activities are approved by the Board of Directors.

7. Facility Management

7.1. Maintains the school as a healthy and safe learning environment for students.
7.2. Works cooperatively with internal and external personnel to develop and maintain a master schedule of ?the usage of the school’s building and grounds.
7.3. Plans and supervises fire and other emergency drills as required by law and School policy.

8. Quality Assurance

8.1. Ensures quality management and growth standards are implemented throughout the school.
8.2. Ensures that all academic accreditation requirements are met.

Requirements

Education and Experience

1. A Masters or PhD degree in Education and a proven track record in education
2. At least ten years of teaching and at least five years in a similar role
3. Experience in obtaining accreditation for schools

Required Skill-Set

1. A bilingual Arabic and English speaker
2. Excellent writing and communication skills in both Arabic and English
3. Able to motivate and culturally assimilate into the KSA society
4. Flexible to work in a demanding and challenging environment
5. Ability to change and transform the administrative and academic environment in the school
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
7. Ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously (multitask) and move them all towards resolution
8. Ability to meet goals and deadlines
9. Proven organizational skills
10. Strong service orientation with ability to influence others and collaborate cross functionally
11. Strategic thinking in Education

Reporting lines

The Principal will report to the Board of Directors of the School.
