Job description / Role
The ideal candidate will develop, design, engineer, estimate and coordinate integrated security systems such as access control, alarm and camera systems. The work responsibilities will be carried out under a variety of conditions in various locations and occasionally with little supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned.
Responsible for developing and designing electronic security systems
Develop AutoCAD drawings and detail design documents
Develop contractor scope of work and Project contractor selection
Ongoing support of security projects
Create support and end-user documentation for security systems
Responsible for creating cost estimates consisting of materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor (start-up, service work, etc.), including system sketches and other security- related activities to assist Account Managers in bidding on or determining price of project.
Assists Account Manager with determining the need for outsourced engineering involvement.
Develops detailed scope based on Account Managers proposed scope.
Creates detailed cost estimate based on detailed scope.
Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for materials/services and/or risk items that will occur on various projects. .
Responsible for generating project documents and plans
Generates and distributes proposals as directed by Account Managers.
Maintains competitive advantage by staying current with company estimating tools. Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
In order to be successful, the candidate must be able to multi-task, demonstrate excellent organizational and computer skills, be dedicated to projects support, and independently make decisions for very complex operations focusing on accuracy, consistency and efficiency.
This position is required to closely interact with the Sales Managers, Project Managers, sub-contractors, and material suppliers to ensure timely completion of a detailed cost estimate.
Requirements
1. Minimum experience 5-10 years experience providing security engineering services to commercial, industrial and/or government clients
2. 4 years degree in engineering or related fields is preferred
3. Information technology experience in IP networks if a plus
4. Project oriented with organizational skills in a must
