Employment: Full Time

BP Oman seeks to recruit and employ an Omani National into the position of Security Manager. The role is essential to ensure BP manages its security risks in relation to BP's people, the environment, BP's assets, and its reputation. The Security Manager will begin working with BP at a time when BP is undergoing a considerable increase in its presence in the country and therefore they will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment while handling changing priorities in a complex organisation. The Security Manager will not only have to direct high level strategy, but will also be expected to get involved in the detail of security implementation.

The candidate will start in the position of Deputy Security Manager, reporting to the current Security Manager, until a point whereby the Deputy has undertaken all necessary training and familiarisation with respect to Oil and Gas operations, health and safety processes, risk management methodologies and BP's method of operation. The duration of this competency assurance period is likely to be one year. Once the candidate is able to take the role of the Security Manager, he will report to the BP Country Head for Oman and functionally to the Director of Security, Middle East.

It should be noted that the candidate must pass all necessary training courses and successfully complete the competency assurance period to retain a role with BP and to move into the Security Manager role.

The role is Muscat based with frequent travel to BP's operational block, with resultant work and accommodation being in field conditions.

* Adopt responsibility for BP's security in Oman;
* Support and implement the BP Oman security strategy for mitigating security risks;
* Manage BP's security risks in Oman from assessment through to implementation of risk control measures;
* Act as the security focal point between different BP functions;
* Provide security liaison and linkages with the Royal Oman Police and the Oman security community;
* Support emergency response events and incidents;
* Devise, implement and manage a security plan for all assets, projects and operations;
* Manage the security team.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:
* Coordination of day-to-day provision of security support services for BP in Muscat and the operational block.
* Conduct security Risk Assessments and the implementation of resultant control measures in line with BP health and safety requirements.
* Be on-call 24 hours a day to respond to security situations requiring management input.
* Obtain security information for Oman from multiple resources and provide assessments and reports to relevant management and staff
* Together with the BP Middle East Regional (MER) Security Director, ensure that security threats are being managed within appropriate guidelines and expectations and with respect to local legal obligations
* Drive conformance with group security Group Recommended Practice and ensure the Security Action Plan is implemented across the business
* Implement Office& Information Security guidelines
* Coordinate and work closely with external contractors' security functions to ensure risks are known and appropriately mitigated
* Maintain security policies and processes, e.g. Civil Crisis Plan, Security Alerts and direct support to the BP Warden System
* Inform BP Oman and MER Security management of all security incidents
* Take a leading role in the investigation of security incidents and provide investigation reports.
* Conduct assessments and audits in relation to security provision and provide resultant reports.
* Support executive protection when necessary.
* Support delivery of security awareness training to the workforce.
* Ensure BP's values on Security and Human Rights are promoted and shared with external authorities, public security and law enforcement agencies to an extent appropriate to the level of risk.

Not required

* Five years' experience in the security sector (including ROP, defence forces or commercial sector)
* Personnel management experience
* Excellent spoken and written English
* Good IT skills, with a thorough understanding of Microsoft applications
