Senior Accountant - Accounts Payable

Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Responsible for all accounts payable procedures including:
- Entering Supplier Invoices in system.
- Invoice Matching.
- Invoice Discrepancies.
- Creating Payments (Cheques, Cash etc. as required) or applying Prepayments.
- Creating Debit/Credit Notes.
- Stopping Payments.
- Responsible for all monthly accounts payable procedures including preparing journal vouchers and batches for entries of accruals and pre-payments.
- Maintains and updates the supplier master file for new suppliers and existing ones by verifying contact information with suppliers and answering supplier inquiries.
- Ensures the accurate tracking of all supplier information.
- Ensures timely payments by following up on pending invoices including reviewing invoices to ensure that all the information appearing on them is accurate and complete.
- Reconcile vendor statements, research and make corrections of discrepancies and reply to vendor inquiries.

Reports, Reconciliation & Verification:
- Prepare month-end account reconciliations (Cash, Accrual and Prepaid accounts).
- Creates accounts payable reports for Chief Accountant related to aging reports, due payments and others as required.
- Works with the Chief Accountant to resolve any discrepancies and questions related to the recording of payments transactions.
- Ensures that historical and current data is received in a timely and efficient manner and that payments can be reported on and recorded in the system accurately.

Compliance with Policies & Procedure:
- Adheres to the Accounts Payable function processes, policies, and procedures.
- Adheres to corporate finance and accounting policies and procedures.
- Performs any other roles and responsibilities assigned as required.

Requirements

- Bachelors degree in Finance/ Accounting.
- Minimum of 6 years of solid experience in Accounting.

Job Specific skills:
- Good knowledge of General Accounting procedures.
- Proficient in data entry and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.

Generic Skills:
- ERP (SAP) & PC Applications knowledge is preferable.
