Employment: Full Time

This role is specific to patient and corporate account billing for healthcare services. The Senior Accountant AR is responsible for leading and managing AR activities in the patient billing section. Working with billing staff, the incumbent ensures accuracy and timeliness of collection, manages open accounts, oversees the reconciliation process and activities and makes decisions about delinquent and other non-recoverable accounts. The role also requires interaction with other areas where cash is collected from patients to ensure compliance with posting/reconciliation procedures as well as to identify areas for improvement.

KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversees collection activities by billing staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Oversees corporate accounts billing cycle
- Ensures timely submission of corporate bills and follow-up bills
- Coordinates with registration staff to ensure compliance in patient cash collections
- Responsible of creating and maintaining corporate accounts data base in Cerner Patient Billing application.
- Reconciles corporate accounts with AR control account in Lawson
- Produces and analyzes account reports to set collection strategy and priorities
- Prepares and reviews aging account reports and makes the necessary decisions on outstanding accounts in accordance with delegated authorities
- Analyzes accounts for errors, adjustments and credits and corrects entries when necessary
- Deals with reported errors and issues escalated by billing staff
- Reassigns accounts in accordance with delegated authorities
- Participates in monthly closing activities
- Prepares and discusses reports with manager and other senior staff
- Identifies areas for improvement and works with performance improvement and training teams to develop and implement corrective strategies
- Applies accounting policies and best practices within Patient Accounts Receivables
- Participates in the development of corporate accounts especially in areas related to invoicing and payment arrangements
- Responds to escalated patient and corporate issues
- Monitors and reports on monthly performance indicators including invoice throughput, issues identified and resolved, credit notes and adjustments raised
- Assists with specific financial planning and analysis projects as relevant
- Assists with the implementation of Accounts Receivable best practices by recommending improvements to processes and eliminating non-value added activities
- Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Establishes and maintains best-practice Accounts Receivable and Revenue Generation functions
- Builds and maintains relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Adheres to Sidras standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra during this pre-operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree - Commerce, Accounting, Health Information, or relevant discipline
- 5+ years' experience of healthcare revenue cycle or accounting
- Experience using electronic billing systems
- Experience in collection
- Patient Billing systems, Patient Insurance operations, claims eligibility verification Processes, basic health data and procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Exemplary customer service attitudes
