Working as part of the Human Resource team, your responsibilities in the role will include:

• Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records and financial statements to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
• Implement and maintain chart of accounts and ensure the implementation of relevant general ledger and account level controls such as segregation of duties.
• Maintain the general ledger and all related accounts with proper documentation and records of all Ashghal transactions.
• Develop and maintain an appropriate computerized accounting and financial management system for Ashghal.
• Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and other key financial control documents, ledger and/or account maintenance, and relevant data entry.
• Take effective and prompt action related to all tasks, in order to prevent major errors or failures to meet deadlines, budgets, Government directives or safety requirements. Take necessary decisions to meet objectives.
• Provide technical guidance and expertise to management and/or technical staff in the day-to-day management of accounting activities within area of specialty.
• Support the Head of Section in managing Supplier and Vendor Relations.
• Carry out accounting related to cheques, cash and electronic disbursements for projects.
• Maintain general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and project accounting, and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Use systems, procedures and policies, including accounts payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
• Perform accounting transactions for monthly closing of financial records and posting of month end information; ensure accuracy of financial statements.
• Provide accounting assistance to Project staff; respond to financial questions/concerns.
• Resolve general payment and vendor issues.
• Prepare regular reports required by management as assigned.
• Assist in the year-end closing and accrual process. Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.

Requirements

Essential attributes include:

• B.S. Accounting/Finance / ACCA or equivalent discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in accounting or accounts payable using oracle financial system or any other ERP system out of which at least 5 years at supervisory level in Finance,
• Preferred computer knowledge within area of assigned responsibility, particularly Accounting software or the ability to learn.
• Professional Certifications, Licenses, or Registrations within area of assigned responsibility preferred
• Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and practices within area of accounting specialty
• Knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies and procedures that are reflective of engineering based government entity.
• Proven, solid Excel skills and exposure to automated accounting systems.
• Independent and self-driven.
• Meticulous self-starter and multi-tasked to meet tight timelines.
• Excellent skills in communication, problem solving and organizational functions.
• Knowledge of GCC construction Industry highly regarded.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English & Arabic.
