Senior Accountant

Job description / Role

Responsibilities

The senior accountant will be responsible for the following areas:

The preparation of financial reports and briefings.
Research, preparation and submission of budgets.
Ensure that all financial matters are in accordance with legislation and ethical accounting practices.
The preparation and implementation of tender documents and purchasing practices.
Responsible for company insurance, licensing, contracts, supplier relationships, and import-export requirements.
Review and assist in preparing company's contractual agreements with clients and subcontractors.

Managerial Duties
Provide direction to operational departments.
Supervisory responsibility for accounting procedures.
Supervisory responsibility for payroll.
Training and promotion of financial staff when required.

Strategic Duties
Advise the CEO on financial strategy and its impact on company objectives.
Regularly receive financial reports and compare sales and income targets and projections against the reported figures.
Participate in financial, human resources and strategic planning.

Requirements

Requirements

Skills Required
Bachelor's degree in business with major in accounting or finance.
MBA is an asset.
Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and best practice, computer software for accounting, financial statements and their preparation, payroll reporting and systems.
Managerial experience, including management of large groups and discrete teams.
Legal experience is often an advantage especially in contracting and construction sectors.
Awareness of government legislation and policy.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, team building, and problem-solving skills.
Must be a skilled communicator, with well-developed verbal, written and presentation ability in Arabic and English.
