Job description / Role

Job Purpose:
To define and drive the information/data architecture function by defining/maintaining the models and the standards for data architecture and by ensuring their application by the architecture projects. The data architect will define and assist in maintaining a high level of uniformity in the use and description of information objects across the Technology department. This is achieved through hands-on project architecture work with constant reference back to and refinement of the Technology Enterprise Architecture model and in link with the business information model.
The data architecture is a transversal function within the Technology Systems Architecture which is the centralised and only design authority empowered to make design decisions in it’s domains of control. The scope covers BSS/OSS & VAS domains

Principal Accountabilities / Key Result Areas:
• To drive the data architecture vision and roadmap definition and maintenance by:
o Ensuring that the view of the current information architecture is up-to-date,
o Building and maintaining the vision of data architecture and the roadmap to the target
o Ensuring that the data architecture vision and roadmap are constantly aligned with Technology Enterprise Architecture vision and roadmap
o Ensuring that the strategic view and actual projects delivery are in alignment from data architecture perspective

• To drive the definition and maintenance of data architecture models/standards by:
o Defining and enforcing data architecture standards, rules and models in alignment with global Enterprise Architecture standards & models and with Business Information model
o Ensuring the models/standards defined for data architecture are aligned with the market best practice and with the industry well known standards.
o Maintaining the data standards and models according to the global architecture evolution and in alignment with business information models evolution
o Ensuring their applicability in the design and implementation projects
• To conduct impact analysis on data architecture aspects for all initiatives where Technology Enterprise Architecture is involved by:
o Understand and challenge the requirements related to data with the initiatives owners and users
o Identifying data architecture alternatives and measuring the cost/benefit of all of them
o Ensuring good and efficient coordination with other architects in order to define the best Technology solution
o Controlling conformity of the solution to data architecture standards, rules and roadmap
o Documenting the impacts and communicating to the work streams the impacts on their areas

• To contribute to the Architecture Governance by defining and ensuring application of policies related to data architecture
• To work closely with Integration stream as a main vector for data integration across Technology applications.
• To organize data architecture stream activity:
o Managing a team of data architects
o Defining & planning activities according to priorities and skills
o Controlling delivery of the team
o Reporting to Technology Systems Architecture Director

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competencies

• Architecture methodology with the ability of conceptual and abstract thinking
• Ability to identify complex relations and overall thinking with a high competency in solving problems
• Communication skills
• Very good presentation, moderation and conflict resolution skills
• Requirements & Business Process Management
• Executive management, communication, and reporting skills
• Wide array of experiences in the technology field and specifically in the Telecoms domain
• The ability to provide support and direction within a constantly changing environment within the context of a dynamic ever-changing business

Core Competencies & Qualification:
• Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, graduate
• Master in Computer Science or in Business Administration
• 08+ years of experience in the IT, or Technology fields in the Telecom industry
• Lead information architect experience on major projects including the creation of formal information models.
• Sound knowledge of information management and design methods including modelling structures such as UML and the use of schemas.
• Used to TMF standards (eTOM, TAM, SID)
• Experience in architecture tools and frameworks
• Experience in modelling techniques and tools
• Experience of design involving information translations and translations between users or departments
