Our client is a major multi-disciplinary consultancy, which is currently recruiting a Senior Architect (Design) to join its team based in Kuwait.

The Senior Architect will be responsible for assisting the Head of Section/Head of Design/Project Manager in executing architectural designs from project initiation to closure, ensuring adherence to deadlines, budgets, quality requirements and contract obligations in order to fulfill client requirements. Ensure that the design intent is maintained throughout the project lifecycles

Duties for the Senior Architect will include but are not limited to:
- Assist the department head and top management on formulating the plan/strategy map for future operations of the Architectural/Design department
- Represent the company at key forums and helps to enhance the brand image of the company through proper representation
- Participate in the development of the project team structure, composition and a project plan in collaboration with the Project Manager
- Develop briefs along with project managers on the cost, resources, establishing a team and get approval from clients on the same
- Conduct interviews with clients to confirm their requirements, obtain additional information and ensure that all design facets of the projects are correctly scoped; develop an insight on how to proceed with the concept design of the project
- Coordinate effectively with other architects and engineers throughout project lifecycles (planning, concept, preliminary, final etc.); review and understand their drawings and specifications to ensure that adequate provisions in their designs are made based on architectural designs
- Develop and design multiple concept design alternativesfor the client
- Assist the Project Manager (PM)/Partner/Head of Design) in the delivery of presentations to receive approval on the concept design
- Ensure the development of preliminary drawings by formulating a drawing list of the different areas of the building
- Assist theProject Manager (PM)/Partner/Head of Design) in getting an approval on the preliminary design from the client
- Assist in the preparation of preliminary cost estimates for concept designs
- Assist in preparing correspondence to clients, consultants, municipal authorities, contractors and other relevant parties, in co-ordination with the Project Manager
- Develop detailed working drawings for the project in order to eliminate subjectivity in the interpretation of the drawings
- Assist in gaining approvals for preliminary designs from the relevant government authorities across the lifecycle of the project
- Ensure adherence to the budgets, timelines and all other requirements associated with the project
- Assist contractors in estimating project construction costs
- Act as a reference point along with the Project Manager for all departments/sections across the life cycle of the project
- Assist the Project Manager/Head of Design/Partner in ensuring client approval on final working drawings
- Ensure the integrity of the design intent remains throughout the life cycle of the project
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Site Architects to ensure smooth implementation of activities on site
- Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to draftsmen and less experienced Architects
- Develop and maintain a motivated and stable team
- Recruitment of staff
- Conduct staff performance evaluations take decisions on career progression
- Identify training and development needs for the staff and agree on the training and development plans
- Collaborate with company management and Human Resources to identify succession plans for all key resources within the company
- Coach and mentor resources to take on higher responsibilities within the firm

Requirements

- Bachelors Degree (or equivalent due to visa restrictions) in Architecture
- Certification from Kuwait Society of Engineers is highly advantageous
- Possess 11-15 years of experience in the construction industry with at least 5+ years in a Senior Position.
- Be able to showcase a strong architectural design portfolio
- Knowledge of Authority rules and regulations
- Knowledge of relevant software (CAD, Office, Photoshop)
- Knowledge of all areas of Design (Landscaping, Interiors etc)
- Knowledge of sustainable technologies such as renewable energy etc
- Knowledge of architectural developments and direction
- Have excellent leadership and communication skills.
