Job description / Role

The Role
You will strategically design and implement eCommerce and Development Operations systems and architectures that support core organisational function and assure their high availability. This includes planning and lifecycle management, integration and standards as well as overall ongoing systems management around availability, performance, and capacity, security to drive efficient and effective IT systems to meet the business needs. In addition, you will provide technical leadership across the organisation, from strategic decision making down to the project planning level.
Responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining corporate systems and software oriented towards eCommerce / mCommerce and Development operations solutions
- Ensuring that proposed and existing systems architectures are aligned with organisational goals and objectives
- Providing architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to Business Solution Managers, Project Managers, and Software Developers and Operational Support teams.
- Developing, documenting, and communicating plans for investing in systems architecture, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities
- Conducting research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility
- Documenting the company's existing systems architecture and technology portfolio; making recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives
- Reviewing new and existing systems designs for compliance with standards and architectural plans, identify improvements or areas to re-engineer/re-design
- Developing and executing test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance. Reporting on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
- Developing and managing a systems capacity plan
- Developing, communicating, and enforcing a policy for standardising systems and software as necessary
- This role does not have any direct reports, however it is expected that the individual will lead project/program teams.
Requirements
- 3-7 years' experience managing and configuring ecommerce type systems, primarily Magento-based or similar environment
- Demonstrable experience in design an ecommerce system
- Demonstrable development operations design and implementation practices and systems
- Strong understanding of information processing principles and practices
- Working technical knowledge in Magento and/or osCommerce, mainly from a systems/network admin perspective and not purely development
- University degree in the field of computer science/engineering or information systems
- Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products as required
- Certification and good working knowledge in ITIL.
