About the Company

National Petroleum Services has been established as an idea for over a year now between Al Dolaimi Group and Al Sanie Group. Both of these companies had a vision of expanding its own services to core a wider scope and a larger area of expansion.

Al Sanie Group established Al Sanie Drilling Company (Now called National Drilling Company) in 1975, to cater for the Kingdom, water supply requirements either for irrigation or drinking purposes.

Al Sanie Drilling expanded due to the high demand for water supply for the agriculture industries at the beginning of 1980s. Also, demand from the Saudi Government (Ministry of Water) along with the population explosion at the late 70s and early 80s have enabled the company to do very well for itself. The Company owned 8 drilling rigs and had them all working. By the early 90s, with the economic recession due to reduction in oil pricing and wars in the Gulf area (Iraq/Iran war and Iraq invasion of Kuwait) the two main areas of water drilling business in Saudi Arabia was heavily affected.

Al Dolaimi Group established National Oil Well maintenance Company in 1988 to serve Qatar oil/gas well services division. The Company quickly expanded its operation from onshore to offshore areas of Qatar and covered a wide range of services including Cementing services.

The Group management, at the very early phase itself, realized that the market potential in Qatar is relatively small compared to the neighboring countries and also due to fierce competition by major international companies, made them by 1990, to start exploring the international market.

In 1992, National Oil Well Maintenance Company (NOWMCO) had established its first international operation in Iran. The contract with National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) was to provide Coiled Tubing Services for a period of 4 years. The contract ended in 1996 when NIDC opted to buying the Coiled Tubing unit as per contract.

In 1994, NOWMCO won a Contract from Saudi ARAMCO for pipeline services and that was the first step to the establishment of NOWMCO Saudi. Now, NOWMCO Saudi provides an extensive range of services for Saudi ARAMCO and is the most growing branch of the Company due to its large operational area.

In 1995, NOWMCO moved its equipments to Southern Sudan under contract with Gulf Petroleum Company for the development of Adar-Yale field. The operation went well and the field had been inaugurated by the then president of Sudan, Mr. Omar Al- Bashir, in March 1997.

In 2004, NOWMCO established its branch in Syria under contract with Dublin Petroleum International (Syria) Ltd. to provide a complete Stimulation package. The contract is doing well lately and NOWMCO has started to pick up additional work from other oil operators.

National Petroleum Technology (NPT) has been established in the logging services in Saudi Arabia since 1977. NPS owned NPT at the end of 2004. Shown positive growth by the end of 2005.
