Senior Civil Engineer

Job description / Role

We have provided Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services, Construction, and Technical Support Services (TSS) to clients in the energy and resources sectors for more than 90 years.

Kentz currently has an urgent requirement for a Senior Civil Engineer based in the UAE.

Responsibilities:
- Reporting to Discipline Team Leader administratively, and to the Project Lead functionally;
- Carry out civil / structural engineering calculations for steel structures, concrete works and other general civil works, as required for the project;
- Provide input to Designers / Draftsmen for preparation of drawings, review/check the drawings and guide the designers/draftsmen.
- Interact / coordinate with other disciplines for input, other information as required for proper completion of work, and also interact and Meet Client / PMC, Vendors and Other Third Parties, if required, for the Project requirements;
- Carry out, review and check design calculations, drawings and MTO, to ensure technical correctness and conformance to project requirements, including review of 3-D model;
- Perform as Project Lead when assigned.

Requirements

- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering is essential;
- 10 years of post-qualification experience in design and engineering, ideally in oil and gas, refinery, petrochemical / industrial projects in different phases;
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience in design and detailed engineering of the following;
- Static and dynamic equipment foundations;
- Steel structures like pipe-racks and equipment supporting structures;
- Steel and reinforced concrete buildings, shelters;
- Connection designs; analysis and design of blast resistant buildings;
- Roads, paving, drainage and underground systems.
- Familiarity with international standards BS, AISC, ACI, ASTM, European Standards, DIN, and standard industry practices;
- Development of design criteria, specifications and standards;
- Supervise / Review of 3-D model;
- Proficiency in use of software like STAAD Pro, Foundation 3D / Mat 3D, MS-Office Suite, MathCAD;
- Good communication, inter-personal and leadership skills with the ability to interact with client / PMC personnel and other disciplines.
