Company establishment has created this exceptional opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager to join our client’s firm in Doha, Qatar. This firm has secured a number of new projects and now seek to recruit a commercial management professional to work with the Executive Management Team to set up structure, grow and then stabilise the firm in terms of its commercial management requirements. We seek a high energy dynamic individual who enjoys challenge and sustained change. The core of this role is to be responsible for the commercial, financial, legal, risk and administrative functions for the firm including the development and implementation of a growth focused commercial strategy for the firm and also preconstruction, design and development management. This is broad role and requires proven performers only.

Reporting to the CEO and the Board; this role manages a finance and accounting team of 5+ staff and is responsible for the following:

• Direct, lead and performance manage the commercial management of the group including the day to day management of a multi-cultural commercial, supply chain and development team.
• Liaison with key stakeholders, senior management team and Board Members.
• Display high level client liaison and negotiation.
• Development and successful implementation of short and long range financial goals for the commercial team including internal control procedures, commercial policies, procedures and policies as well as management reporting systems.
• Monitor the implementation of commercial policies and procedures within the organisation ensuring legal compliance
• Ensure that profitable business growth is accelerated and that commercial success is achieved through the development and implementation of the commercial strategy for the business.
• Development of Management Plans in conjunction with the Senior Management Team.
• Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems.
• Perform monthly project reviews to ensure that the project applies appropriate cost budgeting, resource planning, milestone scheduling, cost analysis, monitoring of cash flow and development of a refined costing report.
• Prepare monthly corporate and project reporting to the Board and senior management team.
• Review of strategic and operational plans in conjunction with the CEO as well as the Board.
• Manage all financial and risk issues pertaining to building projects and ensuring that the planning and risk management of this project is carried out to optimise sustainable business profitability.
• Formulate and implement interventions to deliver sustained performance in terms of securing tenders and new business opportunities for the firm.
• Review reports on the status of contracts indicating current status with regards to financial situation and provide guidance and recommendations for improvements
• Provide leadership and overview of contractual variation assessments of claims and arbitrating any disputes. Compilation and presentation of claims management strategies for the firm.
• Legal management, in conjunction with the CFO, of all legal issues relative to the construction and commercial management of building projects.
• KPI Monitoring and Management.

Requirements

The attributes we seek include the following:

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction or comparable with a minimum of 15+ years’ experience in the manufacturing and / or construction sector. Masters qualification will be highly regarded.
• Candidates must possess at least 2 years’ experience in the GCC markets with high growth companies.
• Significant experience required in contract management pre and post contract essential.
• The ability to work across various levels of management and within a multi-cultural environment is essential.
• Experience with startup entities will be highly regarded.
• Displaying superior leadership skills, the exceptional communicator must have superior commercial acumen and display high levels of professionalism and above all, be a team player.
