Senior Commercial Manager/Director - Prestigious Building Projects - Doha

Duties:
- Leading all commercial activities on a major infrastructure or building programme from inception to completion.
- Maximize the financial effectiveness and profitability of the project through diligent application of proper contractual and commercial practices with a strong focus on managing cost.
- Developing an excellent working relationship with the Client and the whole project team to work together and successfully deliver the programme.

Pre Award Activities:
- Create a high performance culture for the Commercial team and supports the Commercial Team Leader in the management of the commercial team where appropriate.
- Provide leadership, direction and management of external and internal Commercial resources.
- Establishing and monitoring Cost Plan budgets within own portfolio area. Management of change to established Cost Plan budgets.
- Deliver best value solutions for all allocated commercial activities based on optimising the balance between cost and risk.

Post Award Activities:
- Cost management and cost reporting of all Commercial activities within agreed work portfolio.
- Managing post contract change process.
- Effectively managing claims, claims mitigation and dispute resolution.
- Evaluating supplier, consultant and contractor payment applications.
- Ensures timely completion of Final Accounts

Requirements

The successful candidate will have previously worked in a similar role and have extensive leadership experience. Previous Middle East experience is not essential for this role but is preferred.
- Degree qualified
- Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
- Major programme experience
- At least 15 years post professional qualification experience
- Knowledge of best practice Procurement principles and methodologies
- Knowledge of relevant Contract Law and commercial legislation
- Knowledge of European procurement legislation
- Understanding of principles of commercial risk management
- Understanding of principles of project management
