Our client is a global Property Development firm who are world renowned for the development of iconic mega projects worldwide. Their key project is a city project that extends across 38 square kilometres and includes four exclusive islands and 19 multi-purpose residential, mixed use, entertainment and commercial districts. This is a comprehensive arena of leisure spots, residential buildings, commercial towers, avenues and public ports. This city will accommodate 200,000 residents and 170,000 employees and 80,000 visitors. They now seek to recruit a Senior Construction Lawyer to lead a mix of contentious and non-contentious work for this City Project and will have a strong business development aspect.

Reporting to the Head of Legal; this newly created role is responsible to:

• Ensure that the activities of the company are conducted lawfully and in compliance with all relevant contracts, procedures and regulations.
• Provide full legal advice to construction project teams in coordination with other departments.
• Provide legal advice with respect to Real Estate matters for the company.
• Handle disputes and construction claims in coordination with commercial teams and seek to ensure that there is adherence to the contracts and commercial policies and procedures.
• Provide advice on construction projects to contract delivery teams and ensure that all aspects of contract management receive a high quality service.
• Draft and review of construction contracts, service contracts, commercial contracts, etc.
• Provide advice and guidance to the Department to prepare ITTs and related documentation for major sub contracts.
• Management of real estate issues relative to a City development as a Master Developer.

Requirements

The attributes we seeks for this role comprise:

• A Law Degree and admittance in a relevant jurisdiction.
• Candidates must have qualified in a private practise and have contentious and non-contentious construction experience post qualification.
• Post graduate experience of 8+ years predominantly in Construction Law and Real Estate is required. Candidates must have exposure to major construction projects and have formerly represented either a main contractor, a client or developer in legal matters.
• Exceptional communication skills for the settlement and negotiation of multi-million dollar claims and disputes.
• English native speaker although bilingual skills in Arabic highly regarded.
Experience in expatriate environment is highly desirable.
