Employment: Full Time

Senior Construction Manager - Must have rail experience

- Supporting the Leadership Team, comprising the Project Manager, Deputy Project Manager and Package Managers, in managing and executing the construction-related parts of the project within time, budgetary and design specific constraints
- Functioning as project manager for construction activities; including leading the management, scheduling, coordination, monitoring and execution of rail specific sections such as railroad tracks, signals, bridges, tunnels, communications infrastructure, passenger stations, parking structures, depots and maintenance facilities
- Actively assembling field offices consisting of multi-disciplinary teams of Civil Engineers and identifying Resident Engineer teams to oversee the construction, inspection and verification of the Design-Build (DB) contractor activity
-bWorking collaboratively with the Civil and Systems Construction Leads who in turn assist in assigning duties to the Resident Engineer teams
- Providing strategic oversight and direction to the on-site technical, multi-disciplined construction staff responsible for site supervision on this design-build project
- Leading the construction team through site mobilization, execution, and demobilization activities to ensure the orderly, efficient, and timely completion of the project scope in accordance with contractual requirements
- Leading the Construction inspection and oversight teams to correctly evaluate all DB contractor addressing construction methodology, project quality plans, safety plans, schedules and compliance with contractual requirements
- Representing the PMCM team at coordination meetings with the client and liaising with various project entities, third parties and stakeholders
- Overseeing, developing and streamlining operational processing and procedures related to construction, review and approving the DB contractors work execution plan
- Providing constructability reviews of plans and specifications to evaluate scheduled activities and staffing requirements for each phase of construction, and coordinating the availability of requisite equipment
- Coordinating the preparation of various schedule projections for construction activities as per contract requirements and overseeing its integration with the Master Schedule
- Actively leading the coordination and review of construction progress presented by the DB contractor and presenting to the senior leadership team on comments of non-compliance, areas of concern and corrective actions
- Working with DB contractor to optimize the sequencing of activities to mitigate schedule slips
- Initiating or escalating the correction of any conditions which may adversely affect the completion of the project on schedule and within budget
- Working with the QAQC team when overseeing quality control throughout all construction phases of the assigned package
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Plans, and regulatory requirements applicable to the Project. Reporting any relevant issues and assisting in the development and implementation of required corrective actions

Requirements

- Minimum 18 years of industry experience in managing and delivering mega-projects
- Construction or Civil Engineering related degree or recognised professional qualifications
- Demonstrable experience in the construction management of large civil construction projects of similar size and above average complexity in urban environments
- Prior experience in the delivery of rail, metro or related projects
- Hands-on knowledge of the specifics of a Design-Build project
- Successful track record in leading and managing multi-disciplined engineering teams and sub-contractors
- Ability to interface with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior level
- Ability to work with diverse stakeholders at all levels in order to negotiate a win-win situation
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines in a highly pressurized and ever-changing work environment

Desirable:
- Previous experience in a PMCM (programme management, construction management) environment
- Prior experience in the Gulf State
