Senior Cost Control Engineer

Job description / Role

- Study and understand all relevant project documents relating to the cost management of the project.
- Review project cost codes, cost break down structure and project work break down structure.
- Ensure effective cost control system implementation in the project (purchase orders, sub contracts, payroll, petty cash and equipment).
- Control and monitor project total expenditure and report to project manager.
- Produce regular reports and inform to project cost control manger of any forecast of cost over/under run.
- Properly record all project expenditures and report it to project cost control manager.
- Verifying and checking of invoices and claims from suppliers and sub-contractors.
- Engage with planning team to review project man hours and the allocation of man hours, labour cost, material purchasing on weekly basis.
- Engage with planning team to prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly budget for project manager.
- Coordinate and work with project management team to resolve project cost related issues to ensure the completion of project on time.
- Attend project progress review meetings.
- Monitor market trends and report its cost impact to project manager on regular basis.
- Undertake any other ad hoc duties at a comparable level as required.

Requirements

- Minimum 5 years project cost control experience.
- Conceptual understanding of Cost control mechanisms.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering.
- Polished communication skills and the confidence to liaise with external stake holders.
- Must be a team player and have strong sense of ownership of this role.
